I got lost yesterday!! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

So, I recently moved to Melbourne with my husband. I am not very good with my directions (still working on it! ๐Ÿ˜…) plus I am new here! haha.

I needed to get to Sunshine where my husband works and where our Church event was happening. โ˜€๏ธ

๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
I usually walk from the house to the nearest station but yesterday was SO HOT ๐Ÿ”ฅ so my husband told me I could ride the bus to the station instead.

๐ŸŽธ
I was also carrying my guitar in a hard case for Church later that night - so I agreed with him.

๐ŸšŒ
I've never ridden the bus alone here before so it was my first time - I was quite excited and naturally nervous (okay TBH I was anxious! haha)

Long story short:
๐ŸšŒ I got on the wrong bus >>
๐ŸšŠ Rode a different train station I've never been to before >>
โฐ Got there a bit more than 30 mins from the time I planned to arrive.

Honestly, the normal me would've just been anxious the WHOLE time...

But I realized... hey this is something new! and you're going to places you've never been to! So I just took it all in and enjoyed the unplanned adventure. ๐Ÿ˜

๐Ÿฅฐ Here's a reminder that when things don't go to plan - it's alright! You can choose to enjoy the ride! (literally a ride for me)

You'll get there eventually! ๐Ÿ“

This is definitely a lesson you can teach your kids as well - to prepare them to be resilient and well, enjoy life!! ๐Ÿค—

The simple answer is ๐˜๐„๐’ - the more ๐‘๐‘œ๐‘š๐‘๐‘™๐‘–๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘‘ answer isโ€ฆ it isnโ€™t really our choice but our childrenโ€™s choice. I was part of the organizing team for a Workshop today on ๐ป๐‘œ๐‘ค ๐‘ก๐‘œ ๐‘๐‘’๐‘๐‘œ๐‘š๐‘’ ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’ ๐ต๐‘’๐‘ ๐‘ก ๐ฟ๐‘’๐‘Ž๐‘‘๐‘’๐‘Ÿ ๐‘ฆ๐‘œ๐‘ข ๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘› ๐‘๐‘’ and one of the topics was on โ€œ๐‚๐จ๐ง๐Ÿ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐œ๐žโ€ by Coach Rommel. As I was listening to the part about the Mental Bank Account and ESP Deposits - I realized that this is ๐’๐Ž ๐…๐ˆ๐“๐“๐ˆ๐๐† ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐‚๐‡๐ˆ๐‹๐ƒ๐‘๐„๐ ๐“๐Ž๐Ž!

Of course being the geek I am, I researched more on it and discovered that Dr. Nate Zinsser actually introduced this framework/guide/concept of The Mental Bank Account. He is a psychology expert on human performance (๐’๐’๐’• ๐‘จ๐‘ซ๐‘ผ๐‘ณ๐‘ป ๐’‘๐’†๐’“๐’‡๐’๐’“๐’Ž๐’‚๐’๐’„๐’† - ๐’ƒ๐’–๐’• ๐‘ฏ๐‘ผ๐‘ด๐‘จ๐‘ต ๐’‘๐’†๐’“๐’‡๐’๐’“๐’Ž๐’‚๐’๐’„๐’†).

And now I am in this ๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž๐‘๐‘๐‘–๐‘ก โ„Ž๐‘œ๐‘™๐‘’ of applying his framework in the child development paradigm. A week ago for ๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐‡๐ž๐ซ๐จ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ, I had the pleasure to be invited to the Missionary Society of St Paul House of Formation in New Manila, to facilitate a workshop for their teenage scholars about ๐“๐ข๐ฆ๐ž ๐Œ๐š๐ง๐š๐ ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ & ๐’๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐‡๐š๐›๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ - and in Teacher Judith fashion - it was ๐’„๐’๐’๐’๐’“๐’‡๐’–๐’ ๐’‚๐’๐’… ๐’‡๐’–๐’! ๐Ÿคฉ

It was a really ๐ž๐ง๐ ๐š๐ ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐ž๐š๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ฅ session where I got to ๐ค๐ง๐จ๐ฐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ข๐ซ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ and I shared a lot of ๐ฉ๐ซ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐š๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ for the scholars - while following my ๐‘ฏ.๐‘จ.๐‘ท.๐‘ท.๐’€. ๐‘ญ๐’“๐’‚๐’Ž๐’†๐’˜๐’๐’“๐’Œ!

We actually did simulations of some of the strategies I used to do in Highschool and University! Took me back to the times where ๐ˆ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ž๐ ๐ฌ๐จ ๐ฆ๐š๐ง๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ (๐‘†๐‘ก๐‘ข๐‘‘๐‘’๐‘›๐‘ก ๐ถ๐‘œ๐‘ข๐‘›๐‘๐‘–๐‘™ ๐ถโ„Ž๐‘Ž๐‘–๐‘Ÿ๐‘๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘ ๐‘œ๐‘›, ๐‘ค๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ๐‘˜๐‘–๐‘›๐‘” ๐‘œ๐‘› ๐‘š๐‘ฆ ๐‘Ž๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘‘๐‘’๐‘š๐‘–๐‘๐‘ , ๐‘ฃ๐‘œ๐‘™๐‘ข๐‘›๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘–๐‘›๐‘”, ๐‘—๐‘œ๐‘–๐‘›๐‘–๐‘›๐‘” ๐‘–๐‘› ๐‘๐‘œ๐‘š๐‘๐‘’๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘œ๐‘›๐‘ , ๐‘’๐‘ก๐‘.)! I canโ€™t believe I survived all that - but I am happy the strategies I used wonโ€™t just stay with me and go to waste.

Most of these scholars have been my students in catechism since 2018 - ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ” ๐ฒ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ฌ ๐ง๐จ๐ฐ!! Theyโ€™ve changed so much and yet are still the same sweet kids Iโ€™ve had the pleasure of teaching. ๐ผ๐‘ก ๐‘ค๐‘Ž๐‘Ÿ๐‘š๐‘  ๐‘š๐‘ฆ โ„Ž๐‘’๐‘Ž๐‘Ÿ๐‘ก to see them ๐’ˆ๐’“๐’๐’˜๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ ๐’–๐’‘ ๐’•๐’ ๐’ƒ๐’† ๐’‚๐’๐’… ๐’•๐’ ๐’‚๐’„๐’• ๐’๐’Š๐’Œ๐’† ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐’‘๐’†๐’๐’‘๐’๐’† ๐’•๐’‰๐’†๐’š ๐’˜๐’‚๐’๐’• ๐’•๐’ ๐’ƒ๐’† ๐’ƒ๐’š ๐’…๐’๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ ๐’•๐’‰๐’†๐’Š๐’“ ๐’ƒ๐’†๐’”๐’•. ๐Ÿ’œ

It was also a testament to the fact that kids of this age bracket (12-21) certainly can ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ข๐ซ ๐๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ฆ๐ฌ, ๐š๐œ๐ค๐ง๐จ๐ฐ๐ฅ๐ž๐๐ ๐ž ๐›๐š๐ซ๐ซ๐ข๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ž๐ฅ ๐ž๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฐ๐ž๐ซ๐ž๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ญ๐š๐ค๐ž ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ญ๐จ ๐›๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ข๐ซ ๐›๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ฒ ๐ก๐š๐ฏ๐ž!
