Coastal Renewable Energy Technology Center RETC is the 1st source of renewable energy training and pre-development in the Philippines

Renewable Energy Technology Center (RETC), the 1st source of renewable energy training and pre-development in the Philippines. Its primary purpose is to provide world class education and skill development in renewable energy. Underneath this purpose RETC is also in pre-development, looking for potential and viable wind sites in the whole country to be developed as future wind farm. All this knowledge, skill and development approach, would be adaptable to the Philippine environment

CRETC with its partner Toyota Tsusho Philippines and Thailand, conducted a successful training, entitled "From WESC to bankability - wind measurement - Lidar and MetMast Deployment - Project De-risking" training.

Its focus was understanding the prospecting, resource assessment, commissioning and operation of a wind campaign for non-technical folks and the strategies that need to be known and understood.

The attendance from Wind Developers, Banking and Lending Institutions, Insurance and Engineering Consultants made it an awesome training session with its diverse attendace.

One of the highlights was having an actual Methanol Fuel Cell in the training presented by Toyota Tsusho, the only one of its kind in the Philippines.

A windy site is not always a consistently windy site.

El Niño can change the timing, strength, and reliability of seasonal winds across the Philippines.

For developers and investors, this means climate variability must be considered alongside average wind speed.

Good wind projects are built not only on strong resources, but on a clear understanding of how those resources change over time.

One of the most rewarding aspects of working in renewable energy is seeing knowledge shared, questions challenged, and ideas transformed into better decisions.

Recently, the Coastal Renewable Energy Technology Center (CRETC) had the privilege of conducting a Wind Resource Assessment (WRA) and LiDAR Training with the Caraga Wind Energy Corp team, together with our valued partners from Syneria and Meteodyn.

What stood out most was not only the enthusiasm of the participants, but the quality of the discussions. The insightful questions and technical exchanges reflected a genuine commitment to understanding the science and engineering behind wind resource assessment—an essential step in developing successful and bankable renewable energy projects.

At CRETC, we believe our role extends beyond delivering technical services. We are committed to empowering developers, investors, and industry partners through independent technical expertise, scientific rigor, and knowledge sharing. Every training session, every assessment, and every collaboration is an opportunity to strengthen technical capacity and support informed, data-driven decisions.

Renewable energy is built on more than technology—it is built on people who are willing to learn, collaborate, and innovate.

Together with our partners and clients, we are helping shape a cleaner, more resilient, and energy-secure future for the Philippines.

Knowledge Shared. Decisions Empowered.
