What is "ghost" in Japanese?

Yūrei (幽霊) are Japanese ghosts or spirits of the dead who are unable to pass on to the afterlife due to strong emotions like hatred, love, jealousy, or sorrow. Traditionally, they appear with long, unkem pt black hair, white burial kimono, and floating bodies with no feet. Yūrei are often seen in Japanese ghost stories, folklore, and horror films, especially during the Obon season when spirits are believed to visit the living.
