PCOS, a condition affecting more than 170 million women worldwide, got a new name after 14 years of global advocacy, research, and debate, involving more than 50 patient and professional organizations.

With the new name, PMOS (polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome), it more accurately reflects the condition’s actual biology, encompassing multiple hormonal systems, metabolic health, and ovarian function.
