November 30 is Bonifacio Day because it commemorates the birth anniversary of AndrΓ©s Bonifacio, a pivotal figure in Philippine history and the "Father of the Philippine Revolution". A national holiday in the Philippines, it honors his role in founding the Katipunan, the secret society that sparked the revolution against Spanish rule.
- A national hero: Bonifacio is revered for his courage and leadership in the fight for Philippine independence from Spanish colonial rule.
Founder of the Katipunan: As the founder of the Katipunan, he played a crucial role in mobilizing the revolution and advocating for independence.
- Birth anniversary: The day celebrates his birth on November 30, 1863, to emphasize his legacy rather than his ex*****on, which was carried out by his fellow countrymen.
- Official holiday: The holiday was officially established when the Philippine Legislature passed Act No. 2946 in 1921, declaring November 30 a national holiday.
