Today, ASEAN welcomed San Lwin as the new Deputy Secretary-General (DSG) of ASEAN for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC).
Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, presided over the oath-taking ceremony, which marked the beginning of DSG San Lwin's three-year term from 2024 to 2027.

INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY 📖✏️
The Department of Education joins the international community in celebrating the International Literacy Day today, September 8, with the theme “Promoting Multilingual Education: Literacy for Mutual Understanding and Peace.”
With an aim to improve the country’s future results on the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), the External Partnerships Service-International Cooperation Office (EPS-ICO) together with the Curriculum and Teaching (CT) and partners, will conduct series of activities in celebration of the ILD 2024.

As part of ASEAN’s stakeholder engagement, the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Survey is designed to measure awareness on ASEAN and the ASCC among stakeholders and the wider public. The survey also serves as a platform to gather insights that will help inform the development of the ASCC Post-2025 Strategic Plan which will guide the future of the ASEAN Community beyond 2025.

Kaisa ang Kagawaran ng Edukasyon ng buong bansa sa pagdiriwang ng ASEAN Month ngayong buwan ng Agosto na may temang “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience.”
Nitong Agosto 8, ginunita rin ang ASEAN Day o ang ika-57 taong pagkatatag ng Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) noong 1967. Ang Kagawaran bilang pangunahing tagapagtaguyod ng edukasyon sa bansa ay patuloy na nakikipagtulungan sa ASEAN upang maisakatuparan ang hangaring mapaunlad ang edukasyon sa rehiyon.
Abangan ang mga update sa mga aktibidad kaugnay ng pagdiriwang ng ASEAN Month dito sa DepEd Philippines.
