JRMSU - Katipunan , being one of the stakeholders in the municipality of Katipunan has been actively participating in most of the activities spearheaded by the municipality as it celebrates its week-long 110th Araw ng Katipunan, January 29 - February 2, 2024. One of the highlights of the celebration is the booth-making competition featuring the Philippinesโ tourist destinations, on which our University had chosen and created a miniature of the Relief Map of Mindanao crafted by the late G*t Jose Rizal.
Fun fact about the map: Dr. Jose P. Rizal helped beautify Dapitan by remodeling the town plaza, with the aid of Fr. Francisco Paula de Sanchez, his favorite teacher at the Ateneo de Manila where he studied in 1872-1877, and created a relief map of Mindanao in August 1892, using stones, soil and grass right in front of the St. James Church.
Rizal used this map as a guide in teaching geography and history to his pupils during his productive deportation in Dapitan from July 17, 1892 to July 31, 1896.
Whilst the booth competition is on-going until February 01, 2024, at 10 PM, the netizens are invited to choose their bets through a Heart Icon reaction in Katipunero's Choice Award" - An Online Photo Contest.
