๐๐๐ฐ๐ฌ| Kapitolyo High School formally organized its School Governance Council (SGC) for School Year 2026โ2027 during an orientation and election held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the SBM Room.
The activity concluded with the election of Kagawad Kobe M. Felicia as elected co-chairperson and Mrs. Marita P. Frayna as secretary. Mr. Benjie B. Pasco will serve as the councilโs designated co-chairperson.
The election was conducted through secret ballot to uphold fairness, confidentiality, and transparency in the selection process.
The activity aimed to strengthen participatory school governance by deepening the membersโ understanding of the purpose, functions, and responsibilities of the SGC. It also provided representatives from the school and its partner sectors an opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to supporting school programs, addressing concerns, and improving learner outcomes.
The program began with a prayer, followed by a patriotic song presented through an audiovisual presentation.
Mrs. Maricris O. Murillo, Principal II, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of collaboration among the schoolโs internal and external stakeholders.
During the orientation, Mr. Pasco explained the importance of ensuring that stakeholders have a clear understanding of the SGC and its role in the school. He emphasized that the council serves as a bridge between the school and its stakeholders, including parents, teachers, learners, community members, and local partners.
Mr. Pasco also underscored that effective school governance is a shared responsibility. Through the SGC, stakeholders are provided meaningful opportunities to support school programs, respond to challenges, and help the school achieve its goals and priorities.
The orientation covered the councilโs purpose, functions, and responsibilities. It also highlighted the importance of collaboration, transparency, accountability, and active participation in making sound decisions for the school and its learners.
Mrs. Veronica M. Padua, Public Schools District Supervisor, delivered an inspirational message encouraging council members and stakeholders to continue working together and fulfilling their respective responsibilities in support of the school community.
Following the orientation and inspirational message, the participants proceeded with the election of SGC officers. Kgd. Felicia, chairperson of the Barangay Kapitolyo Education, Culture and Environment Committee, was elected co-chairperson. Mrs. Frayna, who also serves as the schoolโs ARAL coordinator, was elected secretary.
The newly organized council includes voting members representing teachers and personnel, learners, parents, alumni, community organizations, the local government, and school program coordinators.
The voting members are Mrs. Ma. Joahanna P. Faustino, president of the KHS Faculty and Personnel Association, Inc.; Mr. Eko Xander F. Quizon, president of the Supreme Secondary Learner Government; Mrs. Colyn A. Cabalatungan, president of the School Parent-Teacher Association; Mr. Myron Danielle Montefalco, former president of the Rotary Club of Ortigas and a school alumnus; Hon. Michael D. Publico, barangay captain of Pineda, Pasig City; Mr. Roberto M. Blurete, SSLG adviser; Mr. Dhays De Boda, representative of Couples for Christ and Youth for Christ; Mr. Raffy Sulit, School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management coordinator ; and Ms. Monica Ocampo, treasurer of the KHS Alumni Association.
The councilโs non-voting members are outgoing elected co-chairperson Mr. Brian M. Roxas and outgoing elected secretary Mr. Junfhel A. Formilles. Their inclusion is expected to support an orderly transition of responsibilities to the newly organized council.
Mr. Roxas delivered the closing message on behalf of the outgoing SGC leadership. His message marked the formal transition from the outgoing council to the newly organized council for School Year 2026โ2027.
