The Moon and the Bakunawa is a deeply moving theatrical experience inspired by Philippine folklore and based on a 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡-𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮. It tells the tender and heartbreaking journey of Mamay and her son Tonyong, whose life has been devoted to caring for his mother as she navigates the difficult realities of dementia.

Through a simple yet powerful narrative, the play reveals the quiet struggles of 𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙪𝙣𝙬𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮, 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚.
