HUMSS learners actively participated in a timely and thought-provoking symposium on the West Philippine Sea conducted by the Philippine Air Force today, January 28, 2026.

The symposium opened with Capt. Krischelle P. Utit Jags-Oaja, who provided a comprehensive background on the West Philippine Sea. This was followed by Maj. John Carlo L. Olaso, who discussed the significance of the West Philippine Sea and highlighted the important role students play in safeguarding it.

The activity aimed to broaden students’ understanding of the importance of defending the country’s maritime sovereignty and territorial integrity, especially amid the widespread circulation of misinformation regarding the West Philippine Sea.
