Cavite State University, through the Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, successfully conducted a learning session on “𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡.” The event was held in collaboration with the 𝐔𝐏𝐋𝐁 𝐙𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 and 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐎𝐇𝐔𝐍, bringing together experts and participants to explore emerging challenges and future directions in the One Health landscape.

This activity forms part of the PREACTs Philippines initiative under the global PREZODE Program.

The workshop aimed to contextualize and validate national findings specifically for Pampanga, the designated 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 for the 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐙𝐎𝐃𝐄 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚, 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐧 (𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐀) program.

The PREZODE Initiative (Preventing Zoonotic Disease Emergence) is a global collaborative platform that promotes the prevention of zoonotic diseases through the One Health approach. In the Philippines, the initiative is implemented collaboratively by the UPLB School of Environmental Science and Management (UPLB-SESAM), the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD), and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), alongside national and local partners.

The workshop brought together representatives from Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU), PhilOHUN, provincial government offices, and local agencies to ensure that program strategies for ASEACA align with Pampanga’s local priorities, capacities, and governance landscape.

The event sought to:
• Validate national-level findings in the context of Pampanga’s local development priorities

AMR develops when bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses evolve and resist treatment, leading to prolonged illnesses and higher mortality rates.
As scientists, healthcare professionals, and informed citizens, it is our shared responsibility to advocate for the responsible use of antimicrobials, strengthen infection prevention and control efforts, and invest in research. Practicing responsible antibiotic stewardship safeguards the efficacy of life-saving medicines for future generations.
