As we continue to use social media and consume different kinds of information available on the web, we can’t help but encounter falsely information. 🤨

It is time for us to use our knowledge and do what we can to combat fake news.

Fake news 🗞 is concealed within countless of information and it is good at disguising itself as legitimate information. A lot of people fell victim to it, some were directly affected by the effects of rampant fake news. It is something that disguises among us — the imposter among us!

🚨 Crew mates, now’s our chance to take down fake news!

We are vulnerable to it, and we must know how to combat it! We must equip ourselves the armor of knowledge and the ability to distinguish facts from not. It is time for us to take down the imposter, combat fake news!

Fake news websites are frequently used to spread misleading information since they copy legitimate news sources in an effort to appear credible. Research shows that social media makes it possible for false information to spread rapidly—indeed, more quickly than real news.

You might be wondering how to spot fake news on Facebook and other social media platforms. How can a student avoid false information? Or perhaps how to stop unintentionally spreading false information online? Here are five guidelines to identify false information, recognize fake news websites, and think twice before sharing:

“Where there is fear and panic, and patients become isolated from their families, it doesn't take long for rumors and fake news stories to start circulating,” said Dr. John Wright of Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI). During the rise of COVID-19, fake news negatively affected the mindsets of patients. One case involved conspiracy theorists saying that the hospital staff of BRI wanted them to die.

The allied health and medical health professionals hit the button and call out the Impostor. They back up their claim with hard evidence of proven science. They explain to the people the health misinformation that the Impostor spread. The statements are logical, but some of the Crewmates are skeptical. They believe that fake news is innocent and that most health professionals are sus. Proper health care is now in danger of getting ejected.

False and misleading news reports are nothing new. Since the development of the printing press, it has been a part of media history for a very long time before social media. It drives tabloid sales by attempting to shock and surprise us, headlines known as clickbait on the internet persuade readers to click to read more. What is more ridiculous to read about than made-up events that never occurred?

You can say that fake news has been part of our history—wait, don’t get confused! Fake news isn't news that we should believe! There are burning-hot-like-a-sun issues we knew ourselves that happened… or we’ve been just fooled by the fake news?

Do not in believe everything you see or hear. Be careful… 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐝.
