EDCOM 2 warns that repeated class suspensions due to inclement weather could further deepen the Philippines’ learning crisis.

The commission’s Executive Director, Dr. Karol Mark Yee, said that the country already loses an average of 40 to 50 instructional days annually to disruptions.

Yee said the impact is particularly concerning for younger learners (Grades 1-3), who rely more heavily on face-to-face instruction to develop basic literacy and numeracy skills.
