Every ๐€๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ, the Philippines commemorates ๐๐ข๐ง๐จ๐ฒ ๐€๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐จ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ in honor of former Senator ๐‘ฉ๐’†๐’๐’Š๐’ˆ๐’๐’ โ€œ๐‘ต๐’Š๐’๐’๐’šโ€ ๐‘บ. ๐‘จ๐’’๐’–๐’Š๐’๐’ ๐‘ฑ๐’“. Aquino served as a senator from ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ• ๐ญ๐จ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ and became one of the prominent opposition figures during the Marcos dictatorship. After spending years in exile in the United States, he returned to the Philippines on ๐˜ผ๐™ช๐™œ๐™ช๐™จ๐™ฉ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ‘, where he was assassinated at the Manila International Airport.

In recognition of the significance of his death in Philippine history, ๐‘น๐’†๐’‘๐’–๐’ƒ๐’๐’Š๐’„ ๐‘จ๐’„๐’• ๐‘ต๐’. ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ”, signed in 2004, officially declared August 21 of every year as Ninoy Aquino Day, a special nonworking holiday. The law states that the day is observed to commemorate the death anniversary of the former senator.
