Every ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐, the Philippines commemorates ๐๐ข๐ง๐จ๐ฒ ๐๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐จ ๐๐๐ฒ in honor of former Senator ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐๐ โ๐ต๐๐๐๐โ ๐บ. ๐จ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฑ๐. Aquino served as a senator from ๐๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐๐๐ and became one of the prominent opposition figures during the Marcos dictatorship. After spending years in exile in the United States, he returned to the Philippines on ๐ผ๐ช๐๐ช๐จ๐ฉ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐, where he was assassinated at the Manila International Airport.
In recognition of the significance of his death in Philippine history, ๐น๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐จ๐๐ ๐ต๐. ๐๐๐๐, signed in 2004, officially declared August 21 of every year as Ninoy Aquino Day, a special nonworking holiday. The law states that the day is observed to commemorate the death anniversary of the former senator.
Today, the ๐ท๐๐๐บ๐๐-๐บ๐บ๐ณ๐ฎ joins the nation in remembering this important chapter in Philippine history. May Ninoy Aquino Day encourage us to learn from the past, understand the value of democratic institutions, and remain informed and responsible citizens. ๐ต๐ญ
