A total of 210 students from nine Hijas de Jesus schools in the country and one partner community in Cavite gathered in Manresa School in BF Homes, Paranaque City, last February 13, 14, and 15 for the F.I. National Youth Assembly. The students were accompanied by 18 teachers and five sisters.
The theme of the youth assembly was “Youth on the Move… Be More!”
On the first day of the assembly, there was a series of talks to raise the awareness of the participants on the different realities of the world, the Church, the F.I. schools and their own realities as youth. These talks were given by Fr. Anthony Nguyen, SDB, Sr. Leoly Quitorio, Mr. Francis Esmetalda and Mr. Tristan Felipe.
On the second day, the participants explored and discovered their gifts and giftedness through a plenary talk given by Mrs. Noreen Santos and through various concurrent sessions facilitated by in-house and invited resource persons.
Sr. Anna-Maria Cinco, F.I. talked on how the participants can share Jesus to others, particularly to their fellow youth. To synthesize their learnings and experiences, Mr. Eleazar D. Solas facilitated the reflection and journal writing sessions. The evening sessions were devoted to games, socializations and cultural presentations.
At the end of the three-day assembly, all the participants drafted and ratified the “Youth Commitment Statement.”
