Nord Anglia International School Manila is part of Nord Anglia Education, the world’s leading premium schools organisation. Meet Maka, our recent graduate from the Class of 2026! 🎓

Maka has been part of the NAIS Manila community since her Early Years journey through Year 13. She shares some of her milestones, achievements, and memorable experiences in and out of the classroom, including her experiences with MIT and UNICEF. These global opportunities have inspired her and helped shape her student journey, while giving her a deeper appreciation for the opportunities created through our global collaborations. She also shares how Mr. Hickman’s guidance and support helped shape her journey at NAIS Manila.

Meaningful Moments in EYFS: More Than Just Play 🛝

What looks like pouring water, building with blocks, digging in the soil, or playing in a little house is actually helping children build important skills through play.

💧 Pouring water helps develop coordination and concentration while introducing early ideas about capacity and volume.
🧱 Building and balancing gives children opportunities to solve problems, develop spatial awareness, and build confidence as they keep trying different ways to make things work.
🌱 Digging and exploring outdoors encourages curiosity, builds physical skills, and helps children understand the world around them.
🏠 Imaginative play supports language, creativity, friendships, and understanding different perspectives.

Through play, children are asking questions, trying things out, communicating their ideas, and discovering how things work.
In EYFS, play is how children learn. 🩵

Learning through investigation 🔍📏

As part of their IPC Investigators learning, our Year 5 students stepped into the Science Lab to explore the importance of conducting a fair test. With the support of our Secondary students, they investigated the three types of variables: the independent variable, what we change; the dependent variable, what we measure or observe; and the controlled variables, what we keep the same.

It was great to see our Primary and Secondary students working together, sharing ideas, and developing their scientific thinking, observation, and problem-solving skills through this IPC activity.

By asking questions, testing ideas and finding evidence, our Year 5 students are developing the skills to investigate and think critically. 🩵

We were delighted to welcome Her Excellency Sarah Hulton OBE, British Ambassador to the Philippines, to NAIS Manila last Friday. During her visit, she toured the school with our Senior Leadership Team, and learned more about Nord Anglia Education, our school community, and the exceptional opportunities available to our students, including NAE expeditions and our unique collaborations with MIT, UNICEF, and The Juilliard School.

Most importantly, she spent time with our Secondary students and Primary Student Leaders, whose thoughtful, confident, and sometimes challenging questions sparked an engaging discussion. The Ambassador was hugely impressed by their curiosity, engagement, and confidence, which reflect the qualities we value in our students at NAIS Manila. 🩵
