The foundations of social skills are learned at home. Let us not underestimate the family's strong influence on a person's ability to socialize. After all, the family is the basic unit of society. Here are a few tips on how we can build our child’s social skills.

1. Empathy - Acknowledge your kids' emotions and feelings.
2. Collaboration - Delegate tasks and encourage working together to finish chores at home.
3. Active Listening - Put down your phone when talking with your kids.
4. Modeling - Model kindness and compassion. Manners may differ depending on the culture of a community, but kindness is a universal language.
