HISTORY OF OUR CONGREGATION
The FRANCISCAN SISTERS ADORERS OF THE HOLY CROSS (FSAHC) is a Third Order Regular of Saint Francis of Assisi founded by Venerable Mo. Maria Luigia Velotti of the Blessed Sacrament in the year 1877. The Diocesan Law grant the recognition to the Congregation in 1939 and the Law of Pontifical approval in 1957.
The PURPOSE of the Congregation is the sanctification of the members in perfect charity through the profession and observance of the Evangelical Counsel (Chastity, Poverty and Obedience) according to the rule of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis of Assisi and the present constitution of the Congregation and the commitment to the works of charity and of apostolate according to the teaching of the Foundress, giving preferential treatment to the most humble, the needy and the marginal people.
The CHARISM of the Congregation is centered on the mystery of the Eucharist and on the Cross. As Ven. Mo. Maria Luigia Velotti had always centered Jesus in her life, so does she admonish her daughters to put Jesus in the center of their mission life. This charism, therefore, must arduously fulfill the significance of the Passion of Christ through the love for one’s fellowmen and the gift of one’s life to all.
The SPIRITUALITY of the Congregation is based on the Spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi. Therefore, it is Christ-centered, Eucharistic and Marian devotion.
The APOSTOLATE of the Congregation is to work continuously and arduously fulfill the expression of love and concern for the lowly people as Ven. Mo. Maria Luigia Velotti focused her special attention on the sinners, orphans and on the aged recognizing the face of Jesus in the countenance of these marginal creatures thus, becoming humble herald of salvation for all. These include the following work of apostolate:
Christian Education (Nursery, Elementary, Junior & Senior Highschool and College)
Orphanages
Catechesis to the Little Ones
Assistance to the sick, the old and the disabled
Pastoral Works and Missions
The Congregation is currently present in different parts of the word like Italy, Indonesia, Philippines, Brazil and Africa. Thus, each member is continually depending on the grace of God and exerting effort to become beacon and bearers of Christ to the least, the last and the lowly as she observed and inspired to follow the examples of the Seraphic Father St. Francis of Assisi and Mo. Foundress Venerable Mo. Maria Luigia Velotti.
In the Philippines, the Congregation was established in the year 1991 and located at #15 Philip St. (cor.) Multinational Avenue, Multinational Village, Parañaque City, Metro Manila. The permission was granted and signed by the Archbishop of Manila Jaimie L. Cardinal Sin and Msgr. Josefino S. Ramirez, Vicar General and Chancellor on the day of 23rd in February 1993.
