Reclaiming Blue Life in the Shorelines
The ocean provides life both in water, and on land. Under the pressure of pollution, it will not be long until the blue waters evaporate to extinction.
As one of the prominent municipalities in Davao De Oro when it comes to rich waters, Pantukan is known for its thriving marine biodiversity. However, the current coastlines are polluted with wastes from creeks and nearby residences. This not only poses a threat to the environment, but to the people themselves.
To be a part of the solution to this issue,the YES-O of Pantukan National High School participated in the coastal clean-up activity of Barangay Kingking coastal areas on September 21, 2024. Aligned with the International Coastal Clean-up Day, the Community Environment of Natural Resources, local government units, non-government organizations, civil society organizations and participants from different schools joined hands to reduce the number of wastes in the shorelines from Sitio Cebolida to Sitio Sta. Cruz, Kingking, Pantukan.
With the event's theme, "Clean Seas for Blue Economy, may we be reminded to protect, preserve, develop, and restore the marine ecosystem by properly disposing of our accumulated wastes. Surely, by adhering to this objective, our other existing environmental issues will greatly diminish and we will be able to promote an equitable and sustainable blue Economy benefitting both nature and people.
