Friendly Waters Children's Activity Center In the Philippines, very few schools have adapted the modern philosophies of education. Every child has a niche in the community.

The schools that have adapted these philosophies and integrated them in their teaching methods are schools that serve the upper middle and upper class children of the Philippines in big cities such as Manila or Cebu. Young children in provinces are deprived of such education due to financial and geographical constraints. This has greater effects on the children when they get older, the biggest backlash being the ability to think critically. The lack of critical thinking skills is carried on, where children instead learn through memorization. When children move on to high school and to university level their methods of learning through memorizing as oppose to experiencing is continued. This effects their perception on life and situations, where their ability to think fast and critically is hampered. Friendly Waters is built on the reality of the Philippines. Hence, location is in a small town instead of a big city. Tuition fees are much less, for families from more walks of life to be able to avail of our services for their children, and for others to be able to sponsor a young child through out the whole year. Yet, Friendly Waters aims to consistently deliver a global standard of education, reaching out to as many children possible. Friendly Waters is here to empower the children to be able to think critically and to be aware of our fragile environment. The future of Panglao greatly depends on the children who live in the island. Friendly Waters aims to be part of the lives of as many children for the main reason of instilling environmental awareness and critical thought. Our aim is to empower the children to know right and wrong, respect the environment, and to most especially stand up to what they know, and to those out their to manipulate.

Dear Friendly Waters Community,
Our time here is coming to a full circle. We are finishing our last project and that is sharing all the valuable lessons we have learned on early childhood education in the Philippines. We are currently working with 13 local daycares of Panglao, where we share experiences, teaching methods, and resources to make an effective teaching curriculum for all children ages 3-5 in the Philippines. This will be important for every parent and teacher at heart who wants to empower their child/children.
Thank you beautiful Panglao Island for making this project a dream come true. Friendly Waters was founded on Alona Beach where playing on the bangkas like monkey bars sparked the idea of starting something for children and keeping the message of our fragile environment in mind. We have learned valuable lessons on leadership, business, and battling the strong currents and coming out of it stronger. We hope to one day be able to work with you, beautiful people of Panglao Island again, but until then, we will always have the memories of beach clean-ups, summer workshops, Fiestas,Easter Egg Hunts, Halloween parties, and the Recycled Art Parol Exhibit. Remember to appreciate beautiful moments to play, explore, and learn in this beautiful island! Most of all, that this island will only stay beautiful if you continue to take care of it.
