National Students' Day is celebrated on November 17 in the Philippines to recognize the contributions of student activism to democracy and to foster leadership among students.

National Students' Day is celebrated as established by Republic Act 11369, and the day is celebrated in alignment with International Students' Day which originated from a student-led resistance against oppression in 1939 which is the ex*****on of nine Czechoslovakian students who fought against the N**i occupation.

The National Youth Commission (NYC) leads the annual celebration with support from the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

This is according to the Philippine News Agency.

Sa araw na ito, inaalala natin ang kapanganakan ng isang henyo, makata, manunulat, at higit sa lahat, isang tunay na makabayang Pilipino. Ang iyong buhay ay naging ilaw sa madilim na yugto ng ating kasaysayan nagmulat sa mga mata ng sambayanan at nagbigay inspirasyon upang ipaglaban ang kalayaan.

Ang mga akdang tulad ng Noli Me Tangere at El Filibusterismo ay patuloy na gumigising sa diwa ng kabataan na ang edukasyon, tapang, at pagmamahal sa bayan ay sandatang mas makapangyarihan kaysa baril at dahas.

Sa iyong kaarawan, muli naming isinusumpa na kami’y magiging kabataang may layunin, may puso, at may pakialam sa kinabukasan ng ating Inang Bayan.
