Like the other organisms in which it occurs, bioluminescence in fungi is an oxygen-dependent reaction involving substrates generically termed luciferous, which is catalyzed by one or more of an assortment of unrelated enzymes referred to as luciferans. The natives used to call it "RAMAG" due to its luminescence in the dark. It guides and lights their way home especially on moonless nights. And jus

t like other tropical countries in the world, Philippines has a lot of these organisms. In the context of education and as used by our school, these glittering creatures are like the graduates that shine and stand out among the rest, within their chosen fields. Just like this bioluminescent species, the graduates of MNHS emit their light together to form a brighter and blazing way with the help of their luciferans-the teachers, who patiently molded and equipped them with exuberant knowledge, skills and the right values they must have. Together, they are confident to face the competitive and challenging world of today with excellence and honor-a paradigm of good and living examples for the next graduates to emulate.
