JUST IN: A Drink to Health and Hope: NCES Kicks Off Milk Feeding Program

Nanyo Central Elementary School (NCES) launched its Milk Feeding Program through a meaningful kick-off ceremony on September 21, 2026, anchored on the theme, “Gatas para sa Kalusugan, Lakas para sa Kinabukasan.” The activity brought together school officials, parents, and education partners in a shared commitment to help children become healthier, stronger, and more ready to learn. Antonio Jr. R. Pasquito, SGOD Chief, represented the Division Office, while School Principal Leonora D. Cañete formally opened the program for 50 learner-beneficiaries identified as undernourished.

Raylyn Sanchez, Project Development Officer IV and Milk Feeding Coordinator, explained the program’s purpose and highlighted the important role of parents in supporting its implementation. The orientation was followed by the distribution of milk to the beneficiaries, creating a meaningful moment of nourishment and hope for the children and their families. The celebration became even more exciting with the appearance of Ate Moo, whose cheerful greetings, waves, and warm embraces brought smiles to both learners and teachers.

Closing the activity, Jayvee Emejas, Acting Department Manager of the National Dairy Authority, expressed his gratitude to the learners, parents, Division Office representatives, and NCES staff for their support and cooperation in hosting the event. More than a kick-off ceremony, the gathering served as a reminder that every glass of milk represents a step toward a healthier child and a stronger tomorrow.

UPDATE‼️🍽️ Project CHOW Fuels Healthier Learners at NCES

The Department of Education's School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) together with Oplan Kalusugan sa DepEd (OK sa DepEd), continues to support the health and nutrition of undernourished learners by providing nutritious hot meals. In line with this initiative, Nanyo Central Elementary School (NCES) officially launched its "Project CHOW" Hot Meals Activity, benefiting 347 undernourished learners. On the first day, the recipients were served chicken soup, fried chicken, and rice, marking the start of the 40-day feeding program, which features a variety of nutritious and well-balanced meals each week.

Principal Leonora D. Cañete emphasized that the program aims to help learners improve their nutritional status, regain a healthy weight, and become more active and focused in their studies. Through the combined efforts of the school and its stakeholders, Project CHOW demonstrates NCES's commitment to promoting learners' health, well-being, and academic success by ensuring that no child learns on an empty stomach.

L👀K‼️ A Colorful Start to Nutrition Month

A vibrant display of colorful and creative headdresses filled the flagpole area as learners of Nanyo Central Elementary School officially kicked off the 2026 Nutrition Month Celebration on July 13, 2026. Carrying this year's theme, "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan," the opening program emphasized the strong connection between proper nutrition and environmental stewardship. Students, teachers, and school personnel actively participated in the event, creating a festive atmosphere that marked the beginning of a month-long celebration promoting healthy living and care for nature.

The kick-off program was spearheaded by the school's Nutrition Month Coordinator, Ma'am Pi B. Chucas, who highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through proper nutrition while encouraging everyone to become responsible stewards of the environment. She reminded the learners that making healthy food choices and practicing environmentally friendly habits contribute to a stronger and healthier community.

Meanwhile, School Principal Ma'am Leonora D. Cañete inspired everyone through her message, emphasizing that simple actions such as planting trees, reducing waste, conserving water, and keeping the surroundings clean can make a significant difference in protecting the environment for future generations.

One of the most exciting highlights of the program was the energetic "Fruit Salad Energizer," where students enthusiastically danced and participated in an interactive question-and-answer activity based on the song's lyrics. The fun-filled activity not only entertained the learners but also reinforced valuable lessons about nutrition in an enjoyable and engaging way. The successful launch of the celebration reflected the school's commitment to promoting health, environmental awareness, and active student participation, making the first day of Nutrition Month both meaningful and memorable for the entire NCES community.

L👀K‼️Knowledge Exchange Through SLAC

The spirit of collaboration and continuous professional growth was evident during the School-Based Learning Action Cell (SLAC) session held on June 30, 2026, at Nanyo Central Elementary School. Facilitated by Ma’am Nizzle B. Calderon, the activity brought teachers together to share insights, strengthen professional practices, and discuss initiatives that support quality education. One of the key highlights of the session was the presentation of the Implementing Guidelines of the ARAL Program, where teachers were oriented on its objectives, implementation procedures, and the identification of learners who will benefit from the intervention. The discussion emphasized the school's commitment to providing timely academic support and ensuring that every learner receives the assistance needed to succeed.

Another significant part of the session focused on the discussion of qualitative feedback from classroom observations and quantitative feedback based on literacy and numeracy assessment results. Through meaningful conversations and collaborative reflection, teachers analyzed learners' performance, shared effective classroom practices, and identified strategies to further improve instruction. The SLAC session once again demonstrated NCES teachers' dedication to lifelong learning, teamwork, and data-informed decision-making, reaffirming their shared commitment to delivering responsive, inclusive, and high-quality education that nurtures the growth and success of every NCES learner.
