UP PSAE Strengthens Partnership with Panabo City Through Courtesy Call

On December 1, 2025, Dr. Sheryl Atilano Yap, Director of the UP Professional School for Agriculture and the Environment (UP PSAE), made a formal courtesy call to the City Mayor Hon. Jose E Relampagos City Government of Panabo through the Office of the City Administrator Mr Pedrito A Misoles. The engagement served as an important platform to reinforce UP PSAE’s commitment to working closely with local government partners in advancing agriculture, environmental stewardship, and community development initiatives in Mindanao.

Held at the Panabo City Hall Conference Room, the meeting gathered key members of the City’s Executive Committee who warmly welcomed Dr. Yap and expressed their appreciation for UP PSAE’s sustained presence and contributions in the city. The discussion focused on ongoing programs of UP PSAE, including academic offerings, community extension projects, and research efforts that align with the city’s development priorities.

Dr. Yap emphasized the School’s dedication to building stronger collaborations with the City Government, particularly in areas that support innovation in agriculture, capacity-building for local stakeholders, and expanded learning opportunities for professionals in the region. She also shared UP PSAE’s initiatives for 2025 and beyond, noting the importance of local partnerships in ensuring the relevance and success of these programs.

The courtesy call concluded on a positive note, reaffirming the shared vision of UP PSAE and the City Government of Panabo to continue working together toward future programs and endeavors that benefit the people of the city and the region.

UP PSAE proudly marks its 9th Year Anniversary, celebrating nearly a decade of academic excellence, research leadership, and meaningful public service in Mindanao.

This milestone highlights the strong partnerships that made UP PSAE possible. Our deepest gratitude to ANFLOCOR for the generous donation of land and the construction of our building, and special thanks to Sir Ricardo Lagdameo for his leadership in bringing UPLB’s presence to the Davao Region. We also thank VP Macy Bibat for her steadfast support in all UP PSAE endeavors.

We were honored by the presence of UPLB Chancellor Dr. Jose V. Camacho, Jr., whose flagship initiative as former Graduate School Dean paved the way for UP PSAE’s development. We also acknowledge Vice Chancellor Rolando Bello and Vice Chancellor Rossana Marie Amongo for their continued support.

UP PSAE Orientation Kicks Off with Strong Attendance.

The University of the Philippines Professional School for Agriculture and the Environment (UP PSAE), under the Directorship of Sheryl Atilano Yap recently held a successful orientation session for students enrolled under the UPLB Graduate School but stationed outside the Los Baños campus.

The orientation aimed to provide students with a comprehensive overview of Graduate School policies, academic processes, and available support systems. It also served as an opportunity to meet key personnel and build a sense of community among peers.

Gracing the event were Graduate School officials led by Dean Dr. Jomar F. Rabajante, School Secretary Dr. Pamela A. Custodio, and Assistant Secretary Dr. Maria Kristina Alinsunurin. Also present were UP PSAE, Program Development Associates Dr. Niña Gracel B. Dimaano and Ms. Shenie Hilado, staff, and program coordinators, who extended their warm welcome and support to the students.

The orientation was attended by over 60 new and continuing students, reflecting strong engagement and enthusiasm from the UP PSAE community.

This successful event underscores the university’s commitment to ensuring that all students—regardless of location—receive the guidance and resources they need to thrive in their graduate studies.

This successful orientation marks the beginning of a new academic chapter for PSAE students and reaffirms the university’s dedication to inclusive, high-quality graduate education across the country.
