Who says faculty meetings have to be all serious? The IBED faculty enjoyed a fun and lively icebreaker, “Paint Me a Picture: Exaggerated Version,” spearheaded by our selected MAPEH teachers, Mr. Facinabao and Ms. Guillen.

With creativity, laughter, and a little exaggeration, the activity brought everyone together and added a fun twist to the gathering. A perfect reminder that sometimes, the best way to connect is to laugh, play, and enjoy the moment together!

𝙄𝘽𝙀𝘿 𝙁𝘼𝘾𝙐𝙇𝙏𝙔 𝙈𝙊𝙉𝙏𝙃𝙇𝙔 𝙈𝙀𝙀𝙏𝙄𝙉𝙂

The Integrated Basic Education Department (IBED) held its faculty meeting last August 6, 2026, at the JHS AVR, spearheaded by the IBED Principal, Ms. Bhea Christly C. Narido, MAED. The gathering provided an avenue for the faculty to discuss important updates, address concerns, and align plans and initiatives for the continued growth and improvement of the department.

Among the key agenda items were the HPTA Meeting Minutes and updates, innovation projects, PAASCU preparations and committee activities, faculty performance and internal feedback, August–September schedules, and other important matters. These discussions allowed the faculty to remain informed, coordinated, and focused on the department's priorities and commitments.

Through purposeful communication, collaboration, and collective planning, the IBED community continues to strengthen its practices and work toward quality, excellence, and continuous improvement in delivering meaningful educational experiences for every Maryknollian.

Last July 27, 2026, our Grade School English teachers, 𝙈𝙨. 𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙖 𝙈𝙖𝙚 𝘽𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙯𝙖, 𝙇𝙋𝙏, 𝙈𝙧. 𝙂𝙞𝙡𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙩 𝙅𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙚, 𝙇𝙋𝙏, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙨. 𝙆𝙞𝙩 𝘿𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙗𝙤, 𝙇𝙋𝙏, together with the English, TLE, and ICT Coordinator, 𝙈𝙨. 𝙅𝙚𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙛𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙫𝙖𝙙𝙤𝙧, 𝙇𝙋𝙏, participated in "𝙇𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙐𝙥 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝘼𝙍𝘽 (𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘽𝙪𝙙𝙙𝙮): 𝘼 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 (𝙏3) 𝙞𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩, 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣" held at 𝙋𝙝𝙤𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙭 𝙋𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙃𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚, 𝙄𝙣𝙘., 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙖, 𝘿𝙖𝙫𝙖𝙤 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮. The training was facilitated by 𝘿𝙧. 𝙍𝙖𝙢𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙀. 𝘽𝙪𝙚𝙯𝙖, who shared valuable insights and research-based strategies for strengthening literacy instruction and improving learners' reading proficiency.

Throughout the training, the participants explored effective approaches to reading assessment, evidence-based instructional practices, and targeted intervention strategies that address the diverse reading needs of learners. The sessions reinforced the importance of using meaningful assessment data to design responsive instruction, enabling teachers to cultivate stronger reading comprehension, critical thinking, and lifelong literacy skills among their students.

Equipped with new knowledge and practical strategies from the Active Reading Buddy (ARB) training, our teachers are better prepared to create engaging, inclusive, and effective literacy experiences that empower every Maryknollian to become confident and proficient readers.

[IBED ACKNOWLEDGEMENT]

Representing the Junior High School were 𝙍𝙚𝙞𝙣 𝙈𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙮 𝙅𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝘼. 𝘼𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙮 (Grade 9 – St. Blaise), 𝙅𝙖𝙣 𝙑𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙏. 𝙈𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙘 (Grade 9 – St. Catherine of Siena), 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙖 𝘿. 𝙇𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙯 (Grade 10 – St. John of Avila), and 𝙈𝙖. 𝙄𝙨𝙖𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖 𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙤 (Grade 10 – St. John of Avila). Their participation was made possible through their hard work and the dedicated guidance of their coach, 𝙎𝙞𝙧 𝙅𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝘿𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙁𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙯, who diligently mentored and prepared the students through focused review sessions. Through their dedication and preparation, they exemplified the values of excellence, perseverance, and lifelong learning that define every Maryknollian.

Today, July 22, 2026, the Integrated Basic Education Department, in coordination with the MCPI Guidance Office , successfully administered the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Test to IBED students. The assessment aimed to gain valuable insights into learners' social and emotional competencies, providing a better understanding of their strengths, needs, and overall well-being as they navigate their academic and personal growth.

Recognizing that meaningful education extends beyond academic achievement, the SEL Test serves as an essential tool in promoting students' emotional resilience, self-awareness, responsible decision-making, relationship-building, and overall holistic development. The results will help guide appropriate interventions, student support programs, and guidance initiatives that foster a safe, caring, and learner-centered school environment.

Together with the Guidance Office, we continue to strengthen our mission of providing holistic education that empowers every Maryknollian to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
