Criteria:

Theme: Rekindling English Communication: “A Tool to Reinforce Relationships amidst Pandemic”

Rules for Eligibility of All Contestants:
1. The student must not have won an interschool national final.
2. The student is officially enrolled as a Senior High School with NDC.
3. The student must not have reached his/her 20th birthday on or before October 31, 2021.

EVENT: DEABATE⚖️

MECHANICS:

ROUND 1:
This event is a combination of argument and debate that is conducted in a round table discussion. It enables the contestant to use his/her critical analysis and deep reasoning about the different issues that occur in the society. This is also develops the ability of the students to organize his ideals promptly and logically.

📌The event shall follow the rules and guidelines below.

-There shall only be one (!) contestant/debater from each grade level per strand.
-Each contestant shall wear formal attire. Moreover, they should be a bona fide student of North Davao Colleges, school year 2021-2022.
-Contestants shall be assigned a number that will correspond to the number on the judging sheet.
-Topics to be debated shall revolve on the following issues: environment, gender and society, governance, peace and order, population and reproductive health and other social issues.
-The debater is required to use English language as a medium except for terminologies on certain topics that are stated in Filipino.

📌The debate will consist of two rounds.

-Each debater will be given a maximum of 3minutes to deliver his/her speech on the topic drawn.
-After the discourse of the first contestant/debater, the second debater will interpolate on the speech of the first debater. The questions for interpolation will be focused on the arguments of the opponent.
-Categorical questions will be allowed (Answerable by yes or no) however, the responder may choose not to qualify his/her answer. A total of five (5minutes) shall be allotted to other contest to ask their clarifications, rebuttal and other questions.
-The second contestant will also give his/her speech on the topic, the third debater will be asking questions to debater 2, debater 3 will be asked by debater 4 and so on.

ROUND 2: FINAL ROUND
📌After the first round, half of the participants will proceed to the second round. The debaters will be following the same order as the first round.
📌A new topic for debate will be given for the second round. The topics will also be selected from the issues enumerated previously during the first round.
📌The same process from round 1 letter (b) shall be followed.

CRITERIA:
Delivery 20%
(Tone of voice, use of gestures, and level of enthusiasm are convincing to others)

Use of supporting evidence 25%
(Examples and facts to support reasons with references)

Organization 25%
(Viewpoints and responses are outlined both clearly and orderly)

Reasoning and ability to answer 30%
(Reasons are given to support viewpoints, arguments made by the other are responded and dealt with effectively)

EVENT: MR. & MS. MYTHICAL ICON COSPLAY👫

MECHANICS:

📌Mythical Icons must be drawn from post-modern or contemporary literature (e.g. Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Percy Jackson series, Gods of Egypt, Helen of Troy, Odysseus, Troy, Hercules, Moana, Mulan, Pocahontas, Brave, Tangled, Clash of the Titans, and Wrath of the Titans).
📌Costume and props must be creative but economical.
📌Each contestant will say a prominent line attributed to the character being portrayed.
📌The Cosplay will be judged according to creativity of costume and props and language (diction, articulation, voice modulation).
📌The prizes or the Cosplay Competition will be as follows:

💸First Prize – P300, Certificate of Achievement
💸Second Prize – P200, Certificate of Achievement
💸Third, Fourth and Fifth Prize – Certificate of Achievement

📌NDC reserves the right to cancel the competition for any reason at any time.
📌The decision of the judges on the interpretation of these rules will be final.

EVENT: PODCAST📢

MECHANICS:

📌The podcast is an interview that aligns with the theme of the event, which must not exceed 20 minutes, and must not be less than 15 minutes. Excess or lack in time will be subtracted in points.
📌The podcast will be judged according to quality of content, creativity and language.
📌There must be at least three participants in each podcast, with one being the interviewer and two being the interviewees.
📌The participants must use the English language fluently, taking into consideration their diction, voice modulation, and grammar.
📌Music must not be used as mere fillers, must not overpower the voices of the speakers, and must be appropriate for the topic.
📌The prizes or the Podcast Competition will be as follows:

💸First Prize – P300, Certificate of Achievement
💸Second Prize – P200, Certificate of Achievement
💸Third, Fourth and Fifth Prize – Certificate of Achievement

📌NDC reserves the right to cancel the competition for any reason at any time.
