The Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT), through the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), commenced today, September 28, 2026, the two-day 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐎𝐦𝐧𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐎𝐑𝐀-𝐎𝐇𝐑𝐀) 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫 at the PIT Balay Alumni.

The seminar provides participants with a comprehensive orientation on the policies, requirements, and procedures governing appointments and other human resource actions under the 2025 ORA-OHRA Rules. The sessions are facilitated by 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐌. 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐳, of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Field Office - Western Leyte, who serves as the resource person for the two-day seminar.

The activity was organized by the Human Resource Management Office, headed by Mrs. Diana Veronica B. Montejo, together with the HR team, with the participation of PIT key officials and personnel.

The seminar will continue tomorrow, September 29, 2026, with the second day of discussions, further enhancing the participants’ understanding of the 2025 ORA-OHRA and its application in the workplace.

𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐨 and 𝐒𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐜𝐚 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥 𝐀𝐮𝐧𝐳𝐨, both Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BA Communication) students, for successfully earning a spot in the 𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝟑𝟎 of 𝑺𝑬𝑨𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒔𝒂𝒚 2026: 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝑫𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒆𝒏𝒔.

Their inclusion in the Top 30 marks an achievement in their journey as they advance to the next stage of the competition, where presentation, judging, and voting will continue. Through their creative work and storytelling, Rey Benedict and Sphecca have showcased the ability of young communicators to capture and present meaningful stories about the Philippine maritime domain.

As students of PIT, this is not only reflects their individual creativity and dedication but also the institution's commitment to developing competent, creative, and socially responsive communicators who can contribute to telling stories that matter to our nation.

The SEAlaysay 2026 initiative offers a valuable platform for young Filipinos to explore, document, and communicate the richness, significance, and diverse narratives surrounding the country's maritime domain. Such opportunities enable students to apply their knowledge and creativity beyond the classroom, gaining valuable experience in communication, storytelling, and public engagement.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | The Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) reaffirmed its commitment to active stakeholder engagement and the continuous advancement of maritime education and training as it participated in the 29𝒕𝒉 𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝑨𝑹𝑰𝑵𝑨 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑶𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑴𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒊-𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝑩𝒐𝒂𝒓𝒅 (𝑴𝑹𝑶-𝑴𝑺𝑨𝑩) on September 24, 2026.

𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐲 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐀. 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐚, Dean of the College of Maritime Education, represented PIT at the meeting and engaged with representatives from various sectors of the maritime industry.

The MRO-MSAB serves as an important avenue for dialogue, consultation, and collaboration among maritime stakeholders. It allows participating institutions and organizations to share insights, discuss emerging concerns and developments, and explore initiatives that contribute to the continuous improvement of maritime education, training, safety, and industry standards.

PIT's participation highlights its commitment to maintaining strong ties with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and other maritime stakeholders. Through active involvement in platforms like the MRO-MSAB, PIT continues to listen, collaborate, and contribute to initiatives that enhance the quality of maritime education and foster the development of the Philippine maritime industry.

PIT's participation in the MRO-MSAB meeting also contributes to the Institute's commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 4 – Quality Education; SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth; SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals

The Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) proudly celebrates a significant institutional achievement, having been recognized with the 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒆𝑵𝑮𝑨𝑺 𝑼𝒔𝒆𝒓 𝑬𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅. This affirms the Institute's ongoing commitment to accountability, transparency, accuracy, compliance, and excellence in government financial management and reporting.

Adding to this distinction, PIT was also inducted into the 𝑯𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒆𝑵𝑮𝑨𝑺 𝑼𝒔𝒆𝒓 𝑬𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅. This recognition highlights the Institute's sustained performance and consistent compliance in utilizing the Electronic New Government Accounting System (eNGAS).

These awards acknowledge government entities that have demonstrated compliance with prescribed requirements by submitting complete sets of eNGAS. The submissions must be free from material errors and submitted within the period prescribed by the Commission on Audit (COA).

Such recognitions underscore PIT's adherence to established government accounting and budgeting policies and procedures. They reflect the Institute's continuing commitment to responsible stewardship of public resources, sound financial administration, transparency, accountability, and good governance.

In observance of the 34th National Family Week and Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day, and in response to the request of the Supreme Student Government (SSG), the Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) shall implement a 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 for students of the Main Campus and Tabango Campus.

𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭-𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟖, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲). This break is intended to provide students an opportunity for rest, personal well-being, and family-related activities.

Faculty and personnel involved in the ORA-OHRA Seminar and other designated institutional operations will report during the period covered by the work suspension and be entitled to Service Credits, Compensatory Overtime Credits (COC) or Overtime Pay, as applicable, subject to existing CSC-DBM rules, availability of funds, and applicable accounting and auditing regulations.

Regular classes and work shall resume on September 29, 2026 (Tuesday).

𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐑 | The PIT - College of Maritime Education (COMED) officially commenced its 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝑫𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 celebration today, September 24, 2026, as part of the 2026 National Maritime Week.

The two-day celebration brings together the maritime community through activities that highlight students’ unity, camaraderie, discipline, and pride in their chosen field. It also provides an avenue for maritime students to demonstrate their talents, teamwork, creativity, and enthusiasm while strengthening their connection to the maritime profession.

The opening activities began with a campus parade, where maritime students proudly represented their respective groups, followed by the Yell and Chant Contest at the Oval Grounds, which showcased the students’ creativity, coordination, confidence, and collective spirit.

The celebration will continue tomorrow, September 25, 2026, with a series of activities designed to further engage and showcase the talents and capabilities of the maritime students, including the Search for Miss Marino 2026.

As PIT continues to provide opportunities for the development of its maritime students, Maritime Days 2026 underscores the importance of meaningful experiences that complement academic learning and contribute to their personal growth and experiences.

On September 23, 2026, graduate scholars from PIT CoScho participated in the 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒓𝒔' 𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕 at Leyte Normal University (LNU), Tacloban City. It was a meaningful day of learning, connection, inspiration, and celebration for the graduate scholars under the Scholarship Program for Coconut Farmers and their Families (CoScho).

Representing PIT were dedicated scholars 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐝 𝐉𝐚𝐲 𝐉. 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧, 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐞 𝐏. 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐆𝐥𝐲𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐅. 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐥, and 𝐀𝐮𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐢 𝐑. 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐨, accompanied by PIT Scholarship Coordinator, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐞 𝐂. 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐬, whose continued guidance and support help our scholars navigate their educational journey.

The Scholars' Summit brought together CoScho scholars in an enriching gathering designed to foster camaraderie, knowledge-sharing, personal growth, and a stronger sense of purpose. Beyond the academic journey, the event provided an opportunity for our scholars to meet fellow beneficiaries, exchange experiences, explore employment opportunities, and celebrate the opportunities that education brings.

As beneficiaries of a program that supports the educational aspirations of coconut farmers and their families, our PIT scholars carry not only their personal dreams but also the hopes of their families and communities. Their pursuit of graduate education reflects their determination, perseverance, and commitment to continuous learning.

His participation provides an opportunity to bring his perspective to a wider audience and highlights the role of storytelling and visual communication in presenting the experiences, biodiversity, and communities connected to the Philippine maritime domain.

Where We Meet the Sea by Victor S. Wenceslao

This photograph was taken in the coastal barangay where I live. I chose to capture this payag or kubo because it represents my coastal community’s close relationship with the sea and how we, in turn, influence the environment around us. The sea has always been part of my life. At a young age, I learned how to fish, snorkel, dive, and paddle boats, and seafood has always been part of our meals. When I began studying marine biology, however, I started seeing my surroundings and childhood differently. I began to realize how the things we build and the resources we use can also change the coastal environment.

The kubo stands directly beside the beach, while its foundation is made of rocks and corals taken from the shore and glued together using concrete. While these structures serve important purposes for the community, they also show how we change the coastline to meet our needs. This photograph reminds me that environmental change does not always begin with something dramatic. Sometimes, it happens through ordinary things we see every day.

As someone who grew up with the sea and is now learning to understand it, I believe caring for the marine environment also means understanding our place within it. We depend on the sea, we live beside it, and our actions become part of its story. By becoming more aware of how our everyday actions affect the coast, we can make more responsible choices in caring for the sea that sustains us.
