The Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) is a state college in the municipality of Palompon, Leyte Veloso of the 3rd District of Leyte.

The Palompon Institute of Technology was established in June 18, 1961. The operation started on 1964 as the Palompon School of Arts and Trades (PSAT) through House Bill 1105, otherwise known as RA 3394, authored by then Congressman Marcelino R. As provided for in the said act, PSAT functioned as a secondary trade school under the Bureau of Vocational and offered only the 4-year secondary trade cur

PIT reinvented itself and moved to become a modern Institution with improved facilities, refurbished buildings, adopted the Institute’s automation system, and instrumental for the passing of Level III accreditation by AACCUP of four curricular programs and the newly accredited Level 1 for BS In Information Technology and BS in Industrial Engineering. Additional courses were offered such as Bachelor Arts in Communication, Bachelor of Science in Hotel & Restaurant Management specializing in Cruise Ship Management, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering & Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and more. Under Dr. Combista’s guidance and direction, PIT continued to forge ahead to meet the challenges like supertyphoon Haiyan and prospects of the future. The bill to convert PIT into a university was approved last June 4, 2013 by President Aquino III. It was sponsored by Congresswoman Lucy Torres-Gomez. However, there were still CHED’s requirements to be satisfied, and complied before January 2016 to become a full-fledged university to be known as PALOMPON POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY (PPSU).

We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievement of our Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BA Communication) students, who proudly represented PIT and secured 3𝒓𝒅 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝑭𝑨𝑹 𝑴𝑴𝑲 𝑱𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 2026, held at the Ironwood Hotel, Tacloban City.

This achievement reflects the students' creativity, teamwork, communication skills, and dedication in showcasing their talents and representing the Institute on a competitive platform. The Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) proudly celebrates another significant achievement as it receives the 𝑰𝒏𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 1𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 2𝒏𝒅 𝑸𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑭𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒓 2026.

For FY 2026, PIT achieved an impressive 196.82% 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞, reflecting the institution's effective financial management, commitment to resource generation, and responsible stewardship of its financial resources. This accomplishment demonstrates PIT's continuous efforts to uphold efficiency, accountability, and sound fiscal management in support of its institutional programs and operations.

PIT was also recognized for its 100% 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, having achieved the complete and timely submission of all 24 required Budget and Financial Accountability Reports (BFARs). This recognition underscores the Institute's strong commitment to transparency, accuracy, and adherence to government financial reporting requirements.

The awards were personally received by 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐡 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐂. 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐞, Chief Administrative Officer for Finance, and 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨 𝐂. 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐧, OIPPD Director, who represented PIT during the Midyear Performance Review at the DBM Conference Hall, Tacloban City. Also present during the Midyear Performance Review was 𝐌𝐫. 𝐏𝐞𝐩𝐞 𝐕. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐬, 𝐉𝐫., Budget Officer.

PIT extends its heartfelt appreciation and congratulations to the entire Finance Team whose dedication, diligence, and professionalism significantly contributed to these accomplishments. Their consistent efforts in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of financial reports exemplify PIT's commitment to excellence in public financial management.

On September 3, 2026, the Palompon Institute of Technology community will gather for the 𝑰𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒚 of 𝐃𝐫. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐋. 𝐈𝐠𝐨𝐭, the 8th President of Palompon Institute of Technology.

This significant occasion marks the formal beginning of Dr. Igot's leadership and her commitment to serve, lead, and guide the institution toward its continuing pursuit of excellence.

The presidency is more than a position, it is a responsibility entrusted to a leader, a commitment to an institution, and a promise to the people it serves. As Dr. Igot assumes the mantle of leadership, she also takes on the hopes and aspirations of the PIT community and the responsibility of helping shape the Institute's next chapter.

The Investiture and Installation Ceremony will also serve as an opportunity to honor the journey that brought PIT to where it is today and to look forward to what lies ahead. It is a celebration of the institution's legacy, the people who continue to build it, and the shared vision that will move it forward.

The ceremony will bring together members of the PIT community, government officials, academic leaders, partners, alumni, stakeholders, and distinguished guests to witness this historic occasion and celebrate the beginning of a new era of leadership.

As the 8th President of PIT, Dr. Claudine L. Igot steps into a new chapter, ready to embrace the challenges, opportunities, and responsibilities that come with leading an institution dedicated to providing quality education and developing competent, responsible, and future-ready graduates.

On August 20, 2026, Supreme Student Government (SSG) Officers from both the PIT Main Campus and Tabango Campus paid a courtesy call on Dr. Claudine L. Igot.

Accompanied by Mrs. Pelar Elizza T. Maraya, SSG Main Campus Adviser, and Dr. Deane N. Mendoza, SSG Tabango Campus Adviser, this meeting served as an opportunity for the SSG Officers to engage with the administration, fostering stronger communication and coordination. Discussions centered on their shared responsibility in representing and serving the student body, and the importance of working together in supporting student activities and initiatives across both campuses.

Following the courtesy call, the newly elected PIT–SSG Federation Officers, led by President Christian Dave N. Mangle, formally took their Oath of Office, administered by Dr. Claudine L. Igot.

The oath-taking ceremony officially marked the start of their responsibilities as Federation Officers and their pledge to uphold their duties as student representatives. As they embark on their term, the new officers are expected to collaborate closely with various SSG organizations and the administration to champion the interests and welfare of the entire PIT student community.

The PIT community extends its congratulations to the newly elected PIT–SSG Federation Officers and wishes them a meaningful and productive term of service. May their leadership be guided by service, collaboration, and a strong commitment to the PIT student body.

The PIT-Faculty Association successfully held its 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲 on August 20, 2026. This served as an important avenue for faculty members to convene, discuss association matters, strengthen professional relationships, and recommit to supporting PIT's goals and aspirations.

During the assembly, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐋. 𝐈𝐠𝐨𝐭, College President, delivered a message to the faculty. She acknowledged and appreciated the dedication, cooperation, and valuable efforts of the Faculty Association in contributing to the Institute's development and supporting initiatives that promote member welfare and professional growth. She also underscored the importance of unity and active participation as the Institute progresses. Dr. Igot stated:

A key highlight of the General Assembly was the election of officers for the Main Campus association, allowing members to exercise their right to choose leaders who will represent and guide the association for the coming year.

The election concluded with the re-election of 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐒. 𝐃𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐨 as Faculty Association President. As we move forward, may the spirit of unity, service, and shared responsibility continue to guide the Faculty Association in building a stronger and more empowered faculty community.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | The Palompon Institute of Technology continues to strengthen its commitment to creating a safe, healthy, and responsible workplace through its 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝑶𝒄𝒄𝒖𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒂𝒇𝒆𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 (𝑶𝑺𝑯) 𝑺𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒓-𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒑 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒓𝒔, held on August 20, 2026, at the PIT-CHIC.

The seminar-workshop was attended by PIT Job Order personnel and On-the-Job Training (OJT) students, providing them with essential knowledge and practical skills to ensure safety in the workplace and during the performance of their duties.

Participants were introduced to important concepts and practices from the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS), including an overview of workplace safety requirements and the rights and responsibilities of workers in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment. The discussion also highlighted different types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and their proper use to minimize workplace hazards and prevent accidents and injuries.

To complement the discussions, a practical demonstration was conducted, providing participants with real-world experience in applying safety practices and using protective equipment. This hands-on activity emphasized that workplace safety involves not only knowing the rules but also actively implementing them in actual work situations.

The seminar-workshop was conducted in accordance with Republic Act No. 11058, also known as the "Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof." This act reinforces the importance of protecting workers from workplace hazards and promoting a safe and healthy working environment.

The activity was facilitated by 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐥 𝐋. 𝐓𝐚𝐝𝐨, a DOLE Accredited OSH Practitioner, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐀. 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐣𝐨, Safety Officer 2, and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐄𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐂. 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨, DRRM Officer. They shared their expertise and practical insights on occupational safety and health.

Through initiatives like this, PIT continues to promote a workplace culture where safety, responsibility, preparedness, and well-being are valued by everyone. More than simply complying with standards, the institution recognizes that keeping people safe is a shared responsibility and an essential part of building a productive and supportive workplace.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | The College President, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐋. 𝐈𝐠𝐨𝐭, paid a courtesy visit to 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐉𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐊𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐑. 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐳𝐚𝐝𝐚, Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Palompon. This visit is part of the institution's ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration and build meaningful partnerships with the local government.

Dr. Igot was accompanied by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐏. 𝐄𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐨, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. As an institution deeply rooted in the community, PIT recognizes the importance of working hand-in-hand with the Local Government Unit of Palompon and other stakeholders in advancing initiatives that support education, community development, youth empowerment, and inclusive growth.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | The Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) – Tabango Campus successfully conducted the 𝑻𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒊𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝑻𝑽𝑻𝑬𝑫 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑯𝑴 𝑳𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚, marking another significant development in the institution's continuing efforts to enhance its facilities and provide students with a more conducive environment for learning, training, and skills development.

The turnover of these facilities reflects PIT's commitment to providing students with appropriate resources that complement classroom instruction and support experiential and skills-based learning. The Multipurpose Covered Court will serve as a venue for various academic, co-curricular, institutional, athletic, and community activities. Meanwhile, the BTVTED and HM Laboratory will provide students with a dedicated learning environment for practical activities and competency development aligned with their respective programs.

During the ceremony, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐋. 𝐈𝐠𝐨𝐭 shared a message with the attendees, emphasizing the importance of the newly completed facilities in enhancing the learning experiences and overall development of PIT Tabango students. Also present during the turnover were 𝐃𝐫. 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐋. 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐉𝐫., Campus Director, together with 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐟𝐟 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐭 𝐃. 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐞, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐍. 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐳𝐚, representatives from the 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬, 𝐇𝐅𝐒 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, faculty, personnel, and PIT students. Their presence highlighted the continued institutional efforts toward improving educational infrastructure and providing students with appropriate spaces for academic and practical learning.

Another activity conducted alongside the turnover was the Pre-Deployment Orientation and Capability Training for Pre-Service Teachers, facilitated by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐧 𝐌. 𝐋𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐚, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐨 𝐀. 𝐘𝐚𝐫𝐢, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐏𝐢𝐣𝐨, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 whose coordination ensured the proper deployment of PIT education students to their respective partner schools for their practice teaching experience.

The deployment was attended by principals and school heads from the Department of Education (DepEd), who welcomed and coordinated with the deployed practice teachers as they begin their field-based teaching experience in their respective schools.

Through these activities, PIT Tabango Campus continues to strengthen its capacity to provide relevant, quality, and responsive education while creating spaces and opportunities that promote learning, skills development, and professional preparation.
