The time has come for the Seekers of Adventure Inspired by the Love of the Sea (SAILS) Organization to choose its next set of leaders. The upcoming Election of Officers is more than just a process—it is a shared responsibility of every member of our Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation community.

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) of the United Nations, this election highlights the importance of accountable, inclusive, and transparent leadership within our organization.

Leadership requires courage, discipline, and a genuine commitment to serve others. This is your moment to step forward—whether to lead with purpose or to be part of the voice that will choose those who will guide the organization.

On 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟏𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, the 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚 (𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒) Organization spearheaded Youth in Service, Nation in Progress in commemoration of National ROTC Month this March.

As part of the initiative, the organization distributed snacks to ROTC cadets during formation, promoting camaraderie, service, and student welfare within the corps.

The activity aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, reflecting SAILS’ commitment to fostering both social responsibility and civic engagement among BSMT students.

As National ROTC Month is observed, initiatives such as this highlight the role of student organizations in cultivating patriotism, compassion, and collective progress. In strengthening the spirit of service among the youth, SAILS affirms that nation-building begins not only with grand actions, but also with meaningful acts of care and solidarity.

“𝘽𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙚 𝙠𝙖, 𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞 𝙗𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙜.”

On 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, in celebration of 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡, the 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚 (𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒) Organization launched 𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒈 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒂 𝑲𝒂𝒚 𝑱𝒖𝒂𝒏𝒂. A simple yet meaningful initiative dedicated to honoring women who have dared to pursue a career in the maritime field.

In an industry long recognized as male-dominated, these women continue to prove that their capabilities know no limits. The initiative serves as a reminder that courage, determination, and passion for the sea are not defined by gender. As part of the activity, the organization distributed basic necessities and toiletries to the women of the BSMT department as a gesture of appreciation and recognition.

This initiative is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝟱: 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 and 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝟭𝟬: 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, reinforcing the commitment to creating opportunities where everyone can thrive regardless of gender.

In celebration of the month of love, free snacks were distributed to the Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) student body, turning an ordinary school day into a moment of shared smiles and gratitude.

On 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, the 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚 (𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒) Organization led the 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐦 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 with the 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞: 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞. The event showcased short films created by BSMT students—stories born from ambition, teamwork, sleepless nights, and the passion of future seafarers.

After a heartfelt film showing that ranged from rom-com and drama to even thriller, the entry from II Delta titled Padayon? won Best Film. It was followed by II Charlie’s Dead Reckoning as 1st Runner-up, and I Bravo’s Man Overboard claiming the 2nd Runner-up spot. Special awards were also presented—Best Film Poster: II Delta; Best in Cinematography: II & III Charlie; Best Actor: Vien Xymon M. Gabon; Best Actress: Ashia Mae Toyong—highlighting the technical excellence and artistry that made their entries stand out from the rest.

The event would not have been possible without the distinguished panel of judges. The organization extends its heartfelt gratitude to 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐑𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐉𝐚𝐳𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚ñ𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐂𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐮𝐞𝐠𝐨, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐞 𝐎𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐚 for sharing their expertise in both the film and maritime fields.

May we be reminded that the love for maritime goes beyond camera lenses, written scripts, and the cue of a clapperboard. It is a reflection of dedication, passion, and pride—showing that in every frame, every scene, and every line, we see reflections of ourselves—navigating not just waters, but dreams.

"𝗪𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄." These words from Martin Luther King Jr. highlight the importance teamwork and camaraderie in life. As future seafarers, the 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚 (𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒) Organization kicked off the first-ever 𝐁𝐒𝐌𝐓 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 with the goal of bringing future seafarers together—not as individuals, but as one team.

On 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, at the PIT Oval Ground, cheers of teamwork, laughter of success, and echoes of excitement filled the air as the event commenced. BSMT students from 1st to 3rd year teamed up with a single purpose in mind—camaraderie. Fifteen teams, from Alpha to Oscar, cheered and ran their way throughout the team-building event. As the event concluded, Team Bravo emerged victorious.

As future seafarers, teamwork is an essential aspect of life on board a ship, and the SAILS Organization hopes to instill and strengthen that value through this meaningful event.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to the Fulcrum, SAVERS, the BSMT instructors, and most importantly, to the whole student body of BSMT for making the event possible.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀’ 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀 (𝗦𝗗𝗚𝘀) are a set of 17 interconnected objectives adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Guided by this global commitment, the 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚 (𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒) Organization conducted an on-campus Clean-up Drive on 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟯, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

This initiative aligns with SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 15: Life on Land. Through this simple yet meaningful act, the organization, together with the student body, aims for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable campus for everyone.
