Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) proudly congratulates Dr. Claudine L. Igot on her election as the institution's 8th President.

Her election reflects the trust and confidence of the PIT Board of Trustees and marks the beginning of a new chapter of leadership for the College. The entire PIT community expresses its full support and looks forward to working with President Igot as she leads the institution toward continued excellence, innovation, and growth.

Congratulations, Dr. Claudine L. Igot! Wishing you wisdom and success as you lead PIT to greater heights.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: The Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) held its Pride Walk Parade around Palompon town as part of its observance of Pride Month today, July 6.

The Pride Walk Parade highlighted the institute's commitment to promoting inclusivity, equality, and respect for diversity among students, faculty, and staff.

Originally scheduled for June 30, 2026, the activity was rescheduled to July 6 due to inclement weather to ensure the safety of all participants.

𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗮𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆!

If your "I'll do it tomorrow" somehow turned into "I'll do it now," today might just be your holiday.

Here's to the people who keep things moving, chase deadlines like they're hobbies, and somehow still find time to say, "One last task."

Ironically, the best way to celebrate today is to work a little less. Step away from the desk, enjoy the people around you, and remember that not every hour has to be productive.

After all, the best productivity hack is still getting some rest.

𝗣𝗜𝗧 𝗔𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝟭𝟬 𝗘𝗩 𝗦𝗨𝗖𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 '𝟮𝟲

Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) is proud to be among the 10 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in Eastern Visayas recognized in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026.

According to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region VIII, the number of Eastern Visayas SUCs included in the prestigious global rankings increased from seven in 2025 to 10 in 2026, with PIT joining the list of ranked institutions.

THE Impact Rankings assess higher education institutions worldwide based on their contributions to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with PIT earning recognition for SDG 1: No Poverty, represented by Mrs. Janet Aclao; SDG 4: Quality Education, with Mr. Jiv N. Codera and Ms. Jonalou D. Gecain serving as focal persons; SDG 5: Gender Equality, by Mr. Jiv N. Codera; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, with Dr. Neil L. Egloso as focal person.

Inclusion reflects PIT's growing commitment to quality education, impactful research, innovation, community engagement, and sustainability in support of the SDGs. It also marks the institution's second international university ranking, following its recognition in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).

Being included in THE Impact Rankings is a testament to the collective dedication of the PIT community—its stakeholders, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and industry partners—whose efforts continue to elevate the institution on the global stage.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: Outgoing third-year students from the College of Maritime Education (COMED) organized a surprise Thanksgiving Party in honor of Capt. Mark Kaandorp, Nova College and Masterclass Instructor, at the OSDS Function Hall, June 29.

The event was held as a tribute to Capt. Kaandorp for his dedication and exceptional instruction, particularly in preparing students for the KVNR Examination. Through his masterclasses, he helped students strengthen their knowledge of navigation and shared invaluable lessons drawn from his experience as a professional mariner.

According to Mr. Allan Celedonio Jr., one of the third-year students who initiated the event, Capt. Kaandorp's commitment to teaching left a lasting impact on the students.

"He bridged the gap between our lack of knowledge upon a certain navigational topic and made us excellently ready to take on the maritime world. He made us believe and commit that any aspiring seafarers can reach their dreams in the seven seas. He is an inspiration to us all 3rd year students,” Celedonio said.

Capt. Kaandorp expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the unexpected tribute, pointing out that he was touched by the students' gesture. He also shared his joy over the number of COMED cadets who successfully passed the KVNR selection process.

𝗜𝗖𝗬𝗠𝗜: Representatives from KVNR-affiliated shipping companies conducted a cadetship orientation for selected Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE) students of Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT), together with their parents, on Friday, June 26, in several classrooms across the campus.

The orientation provided cadets with an overview of what to expect during their shipboard training. Participating companies introduced their organizations through video presentations and explained the training programs, benefits, and support they offer to cadets.
