𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | ELJMC Organizes Su***de Prevention and Mental Health Awareness Seminar

"Changing the Narrative on Su***de and Moving More for Our Mental Health" served as the theme of this year’s Eduardo L. Joson Memorial College’s (ELJMC) su***de prevention and mental health awareness seminar today, October 11, at the Convention Center in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija.

The seminar, hosted by Ms. Rossjan Mae A. Ramos and Mr. Charlie L. Bartolome, began with a doxology and the national anthem performed by The Interwoven Notes Inspiration Guild (TINIG).

Consequently, Ma'am Danica Anie B. Lorenzo, Dean of Academic Affairs, delivered the welcome remarks, inspiring attendees with some of her lines —"𝐿𝑒𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑝𝑜𝑤𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠." and "𝐷𝑜 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑏𝑒 𝑎𝑓𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑒𝑒𝑘 ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑝."

Following this, Ms. Ramos introduced the first speaker — Mr. Crisanto D. De Jesus, Registered Guidance Counselor (RGC), who focused on ‘Preventing Youth Su***de in the Digital Age’. He emphasized the message of hope through a compelling discussion and video presentation, after which the ELJMC chorale performed an intermission number.

Afterward, Ma'am Joana Katrina B. Pelagio, RGC, delivered her lecture on ‘Mental Health: Risk and Protective Factors for Students.’ She concluded her discussion with the thought-provoking quote: "𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑑𝑜𝑛'𝑡 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑜𝑙 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ𝑡𝑠, 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑑𝑜 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑙𝑒𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ𝑡𝑠 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑜𝑙 𝑦𝑜𝑢." TINIG then performed another intermission number.

The seminar included an open forum, allowing students to ask questions and seek clarification on mental health topics. Ma'am Danica Anie B. Lorenzo, Ma'am Katrina M. Lajom, and Ma'am Rodeliza P. Morales then awarded certificates to the resource speakers in appreciation of their valuable contributions.

The session concluded with Ma'am Lajom, Chair of Department of Teacher Education reminding participants of the importance of addressing mental health issues to promote a supportive environment for everyone’s well-being.
