PrOEM Day
The Prime Organization of English Majors (PrOEM) conducted its annual event at Eduardo L. Joson Memorial College, themed "Enhancing Linguistic Proficiency: Achieving Rapport Through Communication Skills," on March 7, 2025.
The event commenced with the opening remarks of the PrOEM adviser, Ms. Mica Joy M. Bulanan, and a statement of purpose by the PrOEM President, Alfredo D. Andes, highlighting the importance of the gathering. In the morning session, Mrs. Jeremy B. Pascua, MAEd, the resource speaker, unveiled different techniques on how to improve communication skills effectively and their importance in collaboration. Following this, she conducted an interactive workshop where she let all the students communicate with one another, observing each other applying their newfound skills. The environment was filled with camaraderie as the participants strived to communicate and achieve rapport. This was followed by the awarding of a certificate of recognition to the speaker for her insightful discussion.
After the session, the students showcased their wit in the game "Mind Conquest Survivor," where Precious S. Disamento from BSEd 2A conquered and survived. Following this was the most-awaited pageant that filled the room with loud cheers, "Mythological Cosplay," where Marius Aurelia (Hades) and Mary Joy Santiago (Persephone) from BSEd 3B were hailed as the Mythological God and Goddess and stood out as they bagged Best in Costume. The first runners-up were Claudine Ferrer (Aphrodite) and Alexander Gabay (Ares), both from BSEd 3A, while the second runner-up and Darling of the Crowd title was secured by Jeric Ulic-Ulic (Dionysus), BSEd 2A, and Jillian Alcantara (Psyche) from BSEd 1A.
In the afternoon, students showcased their collaboration skills in the games "Charades" and "Pass the Riddle." Kyla De Leon's team emerged as the winner of Charades, demonstrating great skills in nonverbal communication, while Meldredge Barde's team displayed critical thinking as they triumphed in the game Pass the Riddle.
As the event concluded, the certificate of appreciation was awarded to the advisers of the organization, followed by the closing remarks of Mr. Jeffry C. Duca, PrOEM adviser, who expressed his gratitude to the participants and to the officers behind this wonderful event.
