TRIVIA
44,000 CHINESE MASSACRED IN THE PHILIPPINES --Sangley Rebellion 1600s.
The Sangley Chinese Rebellion was one of the horrible massacre history in the Philippines, which took place in Manila, October, 1603.
The reasons for the Chinese rebellion are unclear, but they seemed to have originated in the suspicions of the Archbishop of Manila Miguel de Benavides, O. P., that the booming CHINESE POPULATION IN THE PHILIPPINES HAD AMBITIONS TO CONTROL THE COUNTRY.
LUIS PรREZ DASMARIรAS, the Governor-General of the Philippines, died during that rebellion.
Dasmariรฑas was so overconfident of the Spanish strength, together with his 25 Spanish soldiers they attacked the Chinese rebels, but the Chinese were so prepared in battle that ultimately killed all of them.
The Chinese chopped off all of the Spanish heads and mounted throughout Manila.
The rebellion was then quelled by the Spaniards, together with the support of Filipinos and the Japanese in the settlement of Dilao.
The Japanese aggressively fought off, showed no mercy in the repression. Altogether 20,000 Chinese were killed in the battle.
In 1639, the Spanish carried out another massacre, killing 24,000 Chinese.

What were the"First Umbrellas" used for?
The umbrella was invented to protect people from the sun, not the rain.
During it's early days, it was most often used in counties where there was much more sun than rain.
In those ancient times, an umbrella might be made of gold, covered with rare jewels. The word umbra means "shade" in Latin, and that umbrella means " a little shade" in Italian.
