SilMalian Teachers Strengthen Learning Recovery Efforts Through ARAL Training
Teachers of Silangang Malicboy National High School (SMNHS) joined fellow educators from elementary and secondary schools across Pagbilao II District in the District In-Service Training on the Cascading of the Division Training for the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program Implementation for School Year 2026-2027, held on September 10-11, 2026 at SMNHS.
The two-day training equipped teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively implement the Department of Education's ARAL Program, a flagship initiative aimed at addressing learning gaps and improving learners' literacy and numeracy through targeted interventions.
Participants engaged in sessions on the ARAL Program Framework, legal mandates, literacy and numeracy status, social-emotional learning integration, inclusive education strategies, and the utilization of ARAL learning resources. Workshops also focused on evidence-based literacy and numeracy pedagogies designed to support struggling learners.
A key highlight of the training was the collaborative development of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools, learner profiling mechanisms, and school-based action plans to ensure the effective implementation and continuous assessment of ARAL interventions in schools.
Providing technical guidance throughout the activity was PSDS Catalino L. Porta, who underscored the importance of data-driven and learner-centered approaches in improving learning outcomes. The sessions were facilitated by District ARAL Focal Person Sir Carlo Erba M. Pacino, Maโam Nora J. Astronomo, Maโam Ma. Venia L. Grimaldo, and Maโam Asther Q. Bantoc. Meanwhile, Sir Eduardo Yu served as the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer for the program evaluation, while the Administrative Officers II of the participating schools served as members of the Program Management Team (PMT).
The training reaffirmed the commitment of Pagbilao II District educators to delivering quality, accessible, and responsive education, ensuring that every learner is given the opportunity to recover, progress, and succeed academically.
