traces its roots from the efforts of missionary Fr. Reyes of the Society of Jesus to establish a secondary school in 1940 for the natives of the City. HCA was then known by the name Pagadian Academy and was the sole Catholic school in the City (and in the entire Province of Zamboanga del Sur during the period).
