To the alumni of The Midstar, this appreciation post is long overdue, but it is important to acknowledge the work you put in before you fully move on.

Your time in the Midstar's office wasn't always perfect, there were plenty of days marked by missed deadlines, lapses in responsibility, and the inevitable constructive friction from our adviser. Those moments were often frustrating, but they served as a necessary wake-up call about the real-world stakes of journalism and the discipline it requires.

Thank you for taking those corrections in stride and for staying committed to the work even when the pressure was high. You eventually proved that you could handle the weight of the press, turning those early mistakes into a solid foundation for the publication.

As you move forward in your respective paths, we hope you continue to be catalysts of truth, carrying with you the hard-earned lesson that integrity is built on being reliable and showing up when it counts.

ISABELA CITY, Basilan. It’s Mangimbal’s time to carve history—and this year, they delivered.

After its inception in 2019, Mangimbal Football Club capped its 2026 ZPRAA campaign on a high note, securing its historic first Palaro berth after stunning Zamboanga City in a dramatic 4–3 penalty shootout in Begang, Isabela City, earlier today.

The three-time Zamboanga del Sur champion finally cracked the regional code, breaking through after two straight years of near misses in their Palaro bid.

Think about the group chats that have sat at the top of your inbox all year. They were the places where you asked for help, shared a joke during a long study session, or finally found out the deadline for that big project. For a teacher, that chat isn't just an app on a phone, it’s a window into your world. We spend months building a bridge to reach you, only to watch that bridge disappear in a matter of seconds once the final grades are in.

The end of the year shouldn't feel like a sudden disconnection. While students see the "Leave Group" button as a way to clear out the old, teachers see it as the quiet end of a relationship. We aren't just names on a screen, we are the people who stayed up late making sure you were ready for the next step. When everyone leaves at once without a word, it feels less like a celebration and more like a room suddenly going dark.

Throughout the year, these chats become a secondary home. We see your personality in the stickers you use, your humor in the late-night banter, and your growth in the questions you ask. We invest more than just lesson plans into these threads. We invest our time and our headspace, often replying to "Sir, pwede pa ma extend ang submission?" while we're trying to eat dinner or "Ma'am, pwede pako mo submit?" during our own downtime. It’s a space where we aren't just lecturers, but mentors and anchors.

So, as you move on to the next chapter, remember that your teachers are humans who live in the same digital world you do. We see the notifications. We feel the "left the group" alerts.

You don’t need to write an essay. You don’t need to be profound. A simple "See ya!" or a parting emoji before you hit exit turns a cold system update into a human moment.

Before you clear the cache of your school life, take a second to acknowledge the person on the other side of the chat. It’s a small gesture, but in an increasingly automated world, those small human moments are the ones that actually stay with us long after the "Leave Group" button has been pressed.
