Learning Beyond the Classroom | Educational Tour 2026

Today, our Criminology students of Saint Columban College take another meaningful step toward becoming future criminal justice professionals as they visit the Davao Prison and Penal Farm and the Correctional Institution for Women.

True criminology education goes beyond textbooks. It is about witnessing the realities of the correctional system, understanding the challenges faced by correctional institutions, and appreciating the vital role of rehabilitation, security, and human dignity in the administration of justice.

Through this educational tour, our students will gain firsthand exposure to:
✅ The daily operations of correctional facilities
✅ Custodial and security procedures
✅ Rehabilitation and reintegration programs
✅ Professional ethics in corrections
✅ The realities behind incarceration and restorative justice

These experiences bridge theory and practice, allowing students to connect what they learn in the classroom with real-world correctional operations. By interacting with correctional professionals and observing institutional practices, they develop critical thinking, professionalism, empathy, and a deeper understanding of the criminal justice system.

Eligibility
--The referrer must be a bona fide BS Criminology student.

--Benefits will be granted upon verification of enrollment.
--One successful referral equals one exemption for the current academic year.
--Multiple referrals may qualify for additional recognition or incentives, subject to SAFEWATCH approval.
