Team Bravo – La Salle Criminology Interns had the opportunity to accompany the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Ozamiz City Fire Station during a building inspection at an establishment to observe how fire safety measures are assessed in accordance with the Fire Code of the Philippines.
As part of the inspection, the interns witnessed the testing of smoke detectors and fire alarm systems to verify their proper operation and readiness to provide early warning in the event of a fire. This hands-on exposure allowed them to better understand the importance of functional fire safety equipment in protecting lives, property, and occupants.
The activity provided the interns with firsthand knowledge of fire prevention, safety inspection procedures, hazard assessment, and regulatory compliance. It also strengthened their observation, attention to detail, and appreciation of the role of BFP personnel in maintaining safe environments.
From observing inspections to witnessing safety systems being tested, every experience became another opportunity for the interns to learn what it means to uphold preparedness, prevention, and public safety.
