Teaching our kids about Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) doesn't have to be a heavy history lesson. It’s really about sharing a story of incredible bravery.

On April 9, we remember the Bataan Death March to honor the Filipino and American soldiers who went through so much to protect our home. It’s a chance to show our little ones that "superheroes" are real people who stayed strong and looked out for each other, even when things were really tough.

At present, the country is again going through a tough time. We may not be going on a literal Death March but the poor decisions and greed of our government officials are killing us slowly.

Let’s teach our young children how to make better decisions and how to help the country by showing them that WE try to do that. Let’s think before acting, let’s choose wisely by looking at facts and not campaign drama, and let’s be more helpful and honest whenever we can.

May the spirit of valor and patriotism live on.
