On September 11, 2026, the halls and grounds of Southern Capital Colleges became a training ground for readiness as SCCians participated in the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), coordinated by the Red Cross Organization. From practicing the essential “Duck, Cover, and Hold” response to evacuation, first aid, casualty handling, and emergency medical assistance, students were given an opportunity to experience how they should respond when an earthquake strikes.

Because an earthquake gives no warning and when seconds matter, knowing what to do can make the difference between panic and preparedness, between confusion and coordinated action.

The drill is not merely an exercise. It is a reminder that disaster preparedness is a shared responsibility. By practicing today, we build the confidence, discipline, and readiness needed to protect ourselves and those around us tomorrow.

Preparedness is not fear of what might happen. It is courage to be ready when it does.

Stay alert. Stay prepared. Stay safe, SCCians!
