HISTORY OF THE HOUSE CUP
Long time ago, in the Land of Eiddenmark, there was a man who lives his life by stealing food and taking shelter in the sewers beneath the capital of Eiddenmark. The man ran out of luck when the city guards caught him while he was about to steal a loaf of bread from the bakery. He was so infamous that they sent him directly to the king, to ask how this man shall be punished for his crimes. The king, who was convinced by his daughter, to spare the man and instead he sent him on an exile and never to set foot inside the capital.
Chapter II
Meeting with the Beast
As he was scavenging the forest for food, he caught a glimpse of a flying creature. He could not tell what it was because it was too far away to be seen by the naked eye. So he followed towards the direction where the creature was headed.
Chapter III
First Contact
The man arrived at the center of the forest and there he marveled to look at the ugliest creature he had ever seen. To call it a beast would fit it perfectly. He realized that he should not be in disgust when, he too, was ugly in the way he lived his life. Upon close encounter, the beast was alerted by the upcoming approach of the man. The beast then glared and howled at the man in hopes of getting rid of the nuisance. But instead of running in fear, the man, still approaching towards him tried to open his mouth and uttered a dry greeting – hello. The beast was baffled by the man’s action because no human he ever came across with, uttered any words except “monster”, “beast”, “demon”, “calamity.” This was the start of their unexpected friendship. A friendship between two ugly individuals.
Chapter IV
A Lost Friend
Living together for five years, the man befriended the beast who had four heads, a pair of wings and a tail with a head of a serpent at its end and he named him Chimera. Morning came and the man readied himself to gather food for the day when he noticed that Chimera was nowhere to be found. He looked far and wide but could not find not even any trace of the beast.
Chapter V
Pearl of the Ocean
Years have passed, the man who lost his one and only friend was now living in the docks of a village near the capital. He became a fisherman for a living. There he also met his fated loved one, his wife, the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. Little did he know that the woman was the daughter of the current king of Eiddenmark. She was the princess of the land! The very same person who convinced the king to spare his life during the time of his trial. He did not see the face of the princess when he entered the castle and could only hear her voice as she was pleading mercy to the king because he was looking at the ground, feeling shame for himself. Of course, the king was strongly against his daughter marrying a thief. But the love for his daughter was greater than he imagined, thus the man was anointed as prince and married the princess.
Chapter VI
A New King
One year passed after their marriage when the king caught an unknown incurable disease. Even the best healers could not find any cure, and went as far as dubbing it a curse. Ultimately the king lost his life. As a rule of succession, the firstborn prince shall be the successor. But the king did not have a son of his own. Instead he had a son he only anointed because he did not want his daughter to marry a man with no name. This was the turning point of the man’s life. The time that he was crowned the 23rd king of Eiddenmark, King Giovanni I. Together with his queen, they ruled the kingdom for several years.
Chapter VII
Fated Reunion
One day, King Giovanni decided to look for his friend once again hoping to use the help of his loyal knights in order to search farther across the kingdom. After a month of searching, they found Chimera. It was like a miracle for him that for so long he found his friend who left without letting him know. But sitting next to Chimera was a little version of the beast – it was Chimera’s offspring. The knights who was with the king was frightened when Chimera greeted his friend with a roar. For them it was horrific, but King Giovanni calmly replied, “I missed you as well, my old friend.” Then the little beast crawled towards the king, who senses that it was okay to approach this man who is friendly to his parent when suddenly an arrow, drenched in poison hurled towards Chimera’s child, piercing its chest.
Chapter VIII
Goodbye, Friend
Enraged, Chimera burned the knights to death with his flames gushing out of its mouth. The king, who was unable to help his men watched as the beast burned them alive. Shock and grief was in the king’s heart as he looked at Chimera’s eyes and said, “My friend, I was happy to finally meet you but now, I wish we did not meet. I only brought you suffering. I am sorry.” The beast, who was engulfed by rage and beastly instinct, burned the king alive. His child, gone. His friend, gone.
Chapter IX
Vengeance
To exact revenge, Chimera flew towards the capital where the queen and their only son, prince Ereima resides. Like a calamity that he was, he ravaged the whole capital. He burned their cattle and destroyed their homes. The queen died, leaving the prince behind. A trinket of kindness was shown when Chimera spared the prince’s life. But the prince saw this mercy as a chance for him to exact vengeance in the future.
Chapter X
Beasthunt
After the calamity struck the capital of Eiddenmark, Prince Ereima was crowned king and spearheaded the rebuilding of the capital. He then assembled six great warriors the whole land has ever seen. Aydeff Azul, the Lady Warrior of courage and chivalry. Isidor Cahel, the only Lord Warrior of hard work and dedication. Rossweld Giallio, the Lady Warrior of intelligence and wisdom. Eirrol Roxxo, the Lady Warrior of cunning and ambition. Heylas Vierrdy, the Lady Warrior of loyalty and patience and Grey Porphyrra, the Warrior of pronounced leadership and excellence. Together they went on a hunt to kill Chimera.
Chapter XI
Emergence
The battle took almost a week when the decisive blow was delivered. Grey Porphyrra sacrificed himself to give the other five warrior an opening they can use to attack Chimera. The five warriors successfully killed the beast when suddenly, its body emanated a bright light and behold! Five flames emerged. It then flew high in the sky and was seen scattered across Eiddenmark. Eventually, the warriors split up in order to look for the flames that turned into beasts as fearsome as Chimera.
One flame transformed into a huge Direwolf, who was seen in the White Rim, northernmost part of Eiddenmark. The next one turned into a blazing Phoenix and hid inside the complex caves of Blazetalon. The third one became a griffin who roamed the desert of Griffinport. The fourth one turned into a Dragon, lurking inside one of the volcanoes of Dragon Vale. And the last flame transformed into a Leviathan, hiding beneath the depths of the murky lake of Trident.
Chapter XII
The Five Great Houses and the House Cup
In time, the warriors fought these creatures but they could not kill any one of them. Each one settled in their respective lands where the beasts resides and made their own settlements, namely House of Azul, Cahel, Giallio, Roxxo and Vierrdy. After the death of the first generation of warriors, their apparent successors decided not to kill the beasts, but tame them. They used their newly-tamed beast to fight amongst the five great houses and was known throughout the land of Eiddenmark as – THE HOUSE CUP.
