CSA at the Table: Representing the Student Voice in MANCOM
The Central Student Assembly (CSA) continues to bridge the gap between students and administration. Last January 28, 2026, the SSG Vice President and CSA Presiding Officer Avegail Mercones attended the first Management Committee (MANCOM) Meeting of the year at the New Ormoc City Library.

Presided over by Atty. Nolito Quilang (OIC President/College Administrator), the session served as a strategic venue for academic and administrative leaders to align on the institution’s direction for 2026.

Key Institutional Highlights
The meeting tackled vital developments for the City College of Ormoc, including:

Infrastructure Updates: Progress on the CCO Permanent Site in Brgy. San Pablo and the establishment of the Research Hub.

Cluster Reports: Critical issues and recommendations raised by Vice Presidents Ms. Jenny Marx Apit, Mr. Aga Galabo, and Dr. Rosenda Pialago.

Knowledge Sharing: Re-echo presentations from faculty and staff regarding recent professional trainings and conferences.

Collaborative Governance: Insights from Faculty Association President Mr. Ethelbert Deguit and various program heads.

Why This Matters for the CSA
The presence of the CSA Presiding Officer in MANCOM ensures that the legislative branch of the student government is well-informed and actively involved in high-level decision-making. By staying at the forefront of administrative updates, the CSA can better align its legislative agenda with the college’s mission and advocate effectively for the student body.

"Transparency and collaboration are the keys to a stronger CCO."

Strengthening Ties: A Dialogue for the Student Body
In pursuit of transparency and participatory governance, the Central Student Assembly (CSA) joined the Supreme Student Government in a high-level Consultative Meeting and Dialogue with the College Administration last February 4, 2026, at Liga Room 2.

The session served as a vital platform for student leaders to champion the student body's interests. During the dialogue, the SSG presented its strategic priorities for 2026, while the SSG Vice President formally tabled the Legislative Agenda and critical matters raised by the Legislative Branch.

Bridging the Gap
The meeting featured a productive open forum, fostering a direct exchange of perspectives between student representatives and the administration. This collaboration ensures that student concerns are not just heard, but are integrated into the college’s decision-making process.

Present during the meeting were Atty. Nolito M. Quilang, OIC President/College Administrator; Ms. Maria Xyza Ocampo, OSAS Coordinator; Ms. Michelle Polido, Assistant OSAS Coordinator; Mr. Ethelbert Deguit, Faculty Association President; Ms. Mary Rose Nabarquez, Budget and Finance Officer; Mr. Vonn Pañares, SSG President; Ms. Avegail Mercones, SSG Vice President; and other important officers.

"Shared responsibility and open communication are the foundations of a thriving campus community."
Through these efforts, the CSA continues to work hand-in-hand with the administration to build a more responsive and inclusive institution.
