After the clean-up activity, the school community was blessed with a “Lugaw Overload” for the 4Ps members, providing them with a warm meal and refreshments after their participation in the Pintakasi and Clean-Up Drive. The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to 916 Variety Store for sponsoring the Lugaw Overload.

Special appreciation is also extended to Team Paraigit members Alma Prescillas and Grace Cuyo for preparing the Lugaw Overload. The team’s President, Aileen Codog, and Vice-President, Ivy Camus, were unable to attend because their children, who are volleyball players, had a scheduled game this morning. Despite their absence, the Team Paraigit members ensured that the preparation of the Lugaw Overload continued. Reylinda Camus and Mayjoy Giray also assisted in distributing the Lugaw Overload in disposable cups.

Their generosity, teamwork, and service added warmth and encouragement to the activity and served as a meaningful expression of appreciation for the efforts and participation of the 4Ps members.

The activity was carried out through cooperation, teamwork, volunteerism, and shared responsibility, reflecting the spirit of:

The 4Ps Clean-Up Drive was conducted at Macabug Elementary School as part of the school’s continuing effort to promote cleanliness, safety, environmental responsibility, and community cooperation within and around the school premises.

The activity was led by Sir Wenton Jose O. Tolero, School Principal, who actively joined the cleaning of the school surroundings and demonstrated strong leadership through active participation. While addressing the parents and 4Ps members, Sir Wenton emphasized that just as we regularly clean and maintain our own homes, we should also take the initiative to keep the school premises clean and well-maintained for the benefit, safety, and welfare of our learners.

SBM Mary Obias also extended her support to the activity but was unable to personally attend as she was participating in another Coastal Clean-Up Drive. Despite her absence, her continued support and coordination contributed to the spirit of community involvement and cooperation.

The school sincerely appreciates the active participation and cooperation of the 4Ps members, who generously contributed their time and effort to the success of the clean-up drive. Their support is a meaningful contribution toward keeping the surroundings of Macabug Elementary School clean, safe, orderly, and conducive to learning.

Two leaders from their respective fields came together with one common goal: to ensure the safety and protection of learners.

Today, Punong Barangay Bernardino Edgar T. Camus and School Principal Wenton Jose O. Tolero engaged in a dialogue outside the school premises to conduct a post-evaluation of the vehicular accident that occurred on September 15, 2026. Their discussion focused on identifying possible safety concerns, strengthening coordination between the school and barangay, and establishing appropriate interventions to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

Among the proposed safety measures is the need for vehicles to slow down as they approach the school pedestrian lane, particularly during the arrival and dismissal of learners. This preventive measure aims to provide motorists with sufficient time to react and ensure the safe crossing of pupils and other pedestrians.

Supporting these efforts is SBM Arnel Ampatin, Kagawad In-Charge of the Committee on Peace and Order, who regularly performs his daily routine of assisting and safeguarding pupils as they cross the pedestrian lane. His consistent presence reflects his strong commitment to public service and to the safety and welfare of the school community.

Alongside him are the ever-active barangay tanods assigned to the school, Juvlen Tumulak and Mayjoy Giray, whose presence provides additional assistance in maintaining order and ensuring the safety of learners, especially during critical crossing periods.

The collaborative efforts of the school and barangay demonstrate that learner safety is a shared responsibility. Through continuous dialogue, vigilance, and preventive action, Macabug Elementary School and the Barangay Government of Macabug remain committed to creating a safer environment where every learner can travel to and from school with greater security and confidence.

On September 15, 2026, at approximately 7:20 a.m., a vehicular accident occurred outside the premises of Macabug Elementary School. A passenger multicab reportedly experienced a tire explosion, which resulted in an uncontrolled maneuver. The multicab collided with a white bus and subsequently struck the perimeter fence of the school, including the water stop-out, causing water to flow into the school premises.

In response, the Barangay Officials of Macabug, headed by Punong Barangay Bernardino Edgar T. Camus, immediately extended assistance by helping lift and move the multicab to provide access for the ORWASA maintenance personnel to repair the damaged stop-out and address the water leakage. Through their prompt intervention, the damaged portion was temporarily repaired and the water line was restored, allowing the school to maintain its available water supply while awaiting the replacement of the damaged water meter.
By God’s grace, the incident occurred during the Teachers’ Wellness Break, when there were no classes and no learners present on the school premises. This circumstance helped prevent possible injury to pupils and school personnel who would normally be in the area during regular school hours.

Today, September 16, 2026, SBM Arnel Ampatin, Kagawad-in-Charge of the Committee on Peace and Order, facilitated the pedestrian lane during the morning arrival of learners. This was done to ensure the safe crossing of pupils as they made their way toward the school entrance gate. He was assisted by the school-assigned Barangay Tanods, Juvlen Tumulak and May Joy Giray.

SBM Ampatin consistently facilitates the school's morning safety routine, particularly during the arrival of learners, as part of the barangay's continuing support in ensuring the security, safety, and welfare of learners and the entire school community.
As of September 16, 2026, the passenger multicab remained outside the school premises due to the serious damage sustained to its engine area. Its continued presence was monitored to ensure that it would not compromise the safety and movement of learners entering the school.

The incident highlights the importance of close coordination among the school, barangay officials, barangay tanods, ORWASA, and other concerned agencies in responding to emergencies and maintaining a safe school environment. The immediate assistance provided by the Barangay Officials and the continued presence of peace and order personnel demonstrate the community's commitment to protecting learners and ensuring their safe access to and from Macabug Elementary School.

INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN-UP DRIVE 2026

In a meaningful show of unity and shared responsibility for the environment, the International Coastal Clean-Up Drive 2026 was successfully conducted, led by B-MEG PLANT (BMP) Leyte Manager Sir Rigienald Gomez, together with the staff, and employees, who joined hands to protect and preserve the coastal area of Barangay Macabug, Ormoc City.

The activity was strengthened through the active collaboration of our Barangay Officials, spearheaded by PB Hon. Bernardino Camus, together with SBM Luis Lacerna Jr., Kagawad-in-Charge of the Committee on Education; SBM Arnel Ampatin; SBM Nice Alfante; SBM Mary Ann Obias; SBM Susan Carrillo; SBM Mary Joy Hermoso; and SBM Antonio Anñasco.

Also taking part in this environmental initiative were representatives and members of MAFACO, UPLIFT, 4Ps, Walang Gutom, BNS, BHW and our dedicated Barangay Tanods. Their collective effort demonstrated the true spirit of bayanihan, different groups coming together with one common goal: to keep our coastal environment clean, safe, and protected.

The coastal clean-up was more than just gathering waste along the shoreline. It was a reminder that protecting our oceans requires collective action, discipline, and continuous care. Every piece of trash collected means one less threat to marine life, our coastal ecosystem, and the communities that depend on it.

Let us continue to work together in keeping our shores clean and our marine environment safe. Our coast is our shared responsibility, and every small action can make a lasting difference.

At the DSPC 2026, four young journalists stepped into the competition carrying more than just their pens. They carried courage, determination, creativity, and the pride of our school.

Behind them stood their Princess-like Beauty Coach and heir to the winning crown , Ma’am Fel Marie V. Concon, just like the characters we see in those short dramas, guiding, encouraging, and believing in her team every step of the way.

And just like a magical tale, there was no need to chant a single spell. No “Abracadabra!” No magic wand.
With hard work, talent, and the right guidance, they still came out victorious!

On September 3, 2026, SBM Luis Lacerna Jr., Kagawad-in-Charge of the Committee on Education, led the facilitation and monitoring of the safe crossing of pupils along the designated pedestrian lane in front of Macabug Elementary School. He also assisted in managing tricycles carrying pupil passengers as they made a U-turn toward the main gate entrance to ensure the orderly and safe movement of pupils and vehicles.

According to SBM Luis Lacerna Jr., the traffic and pupil-crossing assistance was undertaken in accordance with the directive discussed during the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) meeting, particularly concerning the safety and protection of pupils entering and leaving the school premises.

The Barangay Tanods assigned to the school likewise actively assisted in securing the pedestrian crossing and ensuring the safety of pupils as they entered the school gate and proceeded to their respective classrooms. The assigned Tanods, namely Chief Boboy Ilao, Juvlen Tumulak, Linda Camus and Mayjoy Giray, provided assistance at the pedestrian lane and monitored the movement of pupils and vehicles.

The coordinated efforts of the Barangay Officials, Barangay Tanods, and the school community demonstrate the strong partnership between the school and the barangay in promoting a safe, orderly, and child-friendly school environment. Their presence and assistance help minimize risks and ensure that pupils can safely enter the school premises and proceed to their classrooms.

IN PHOTOS I SEPTEMBER 1, 2026

As the cool morning air welcomed the first day of the “Ber Months,” Macabug Elementary School gathered once again for its regular Monday Morning Flag Ceremony. Since yesterday was a holiday in observance of National Heroes Day, the school community came together this morning to begin September with renewed energy, discipline, and patriotism.

The flag-raising ceremony was led by PAT Jaca and PAT Gubalane, with the Boy Scouts standing behind and carefully observing the proper flag-raising procedures. The flag ceremony was facilitated by Ma’am Hershey Mary B. Tumulak, a seasoned Grade 1 teacher and Teacher III who has dedicated her entire teaching career to serving young learners. Her experience and composure were evident as she helped ensure that the ceremony was conducted properly, respectfully, and with the solemnity it deserved.

As the Philippine flag slowly rose toward the morning sky, the entire school community remained quiet and attentive. The organized atmosphere reflected the importance of discipline and respect, values that must be nurtured not only inside the classroom but also in every aspect of a learner’s life.

Meanwhile, Sir Wenton Jose O. Tolero, School Principal, once again reminded the pupils that discipline and obedience are essential foundations of becoming responsible and successful citizens in the future. His message emphasized that success does not begin with awards or achievements alone; it begins with learning to follow rules, respect others, listen, and do what is right even when no one is watching.

Adding excitement and inspiration to the morning ceremony, the winners of last week’s contests were called to the stage and recognized with a well-deserved round of applause. Among those celebrated were Dazare Villarmino, Abby Andrescio, Athena Jade Bonajos, and Parker Dylan Ting, whose achievements brought pride and honor to Macabug Elementary School.

Their recognition was more than just a celebration of victory, it became a source of inspiration to their fellow pupils. Their accomplishments remind everyone that hard work, perseverance, discipline, and determination can turn dreams into achievements.

As September begins, may the rising flag continue to remind every learner of their duty to love their country, respect one another, and strive for excellence. And may the achievements of our young champions inspire more pupils to study harder, believe in themselves, and aim not merely to participate but to reach for that possible FIRST PLACE.

Today, we celebrate National Heroes Day, a day dedicated to honoring the heroes who helped shape our nation. But here in our barangay, some heroes remind us that service does not take a holiday.

While many are enjoying a day of rest, PB Bernardino Edgar T. Camus and Team Jojo continue to serve the school community. Today, they spearheaded the construction of the new cyclone-wire fence and school gate at the new building of Macabug Elementary School, another significant step toward providing our pupils with a safer, more secure, and protected learning environment.

Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to School Principal Sir Wenton Jose O. Tolero, who personally purchased the additional materials needed to ensure the continuation of the project. His actions demonstrate a safety-first leadership mindset, placing the welfare, security, and protection of our pupils above all else.

Amid the increasing reports of shooting incidents and other security threats affecting schools in different parts of the country, Sir Wenton continues to strengthen safety measures at Macabug Elementary School. Through maximum vigilance, preparedness, and zero complacency, he remains committed to ensuring that our school community remains a safe place where children can learn without fear.

Today reminds us that heroes are not found only in history books. Some heroes are right here in our community, working even on a holiday, building fences, strengthening school security, lending their hands, and protecting the future of our children.

*** Congratulations,
Macabug Elite Debaters ***

6th Place among 13 schools in District 2, with an impressive 85 points!
Behind that 6th-place finish is a story that cannot be measured by points alone.

A new battle.
A new team.
A new set of voices.
And a challenge to prove that Macabug could still stand among the best.
This year, the stage was different. The pressure was real. The opponents were ready. And for a relatively new team, the question was simple:

“Can they do it?”

Standing at the center of that challenge were Abby Andrescio, Athena Jade Bonajos, and Parker Jaxson Dylan A. Ting, three young debaters who stepped into the arena carrying not only the name of Macabug Elementary School, but also the expectations of those who believed in them.

For Abby Andrescio, the journey carried a different kind of pressure. As the only veteran returning from last year’s 2nd-place team, she knew what it meant to stand on that stage. She had experienced the intensity of competition before. This time, however, she was not simply returning to compete, she was returning to help lead a new Team.
Then came Athena Jade Bonajos and Parker Jaxson Dylan A. Ting, stepping into the world of competitive debate with courage and determination. They had no guarantee of victory. They had no promise that the questions would be easy or that the arguments would always go their way.
But they showed up.
They listened.
They analyzed.
They argued.
They defended.
They learned from every question.

And when the pressure became heavier, they stayed in the fight.
Perhaps they did not bring home the Medal that everyone dreamed of.
Perhaps the scoreboard only says 6th Place.

But behind those two words are countless moments of preparation, nervousness, confidence, mistakes, recovery, teamwork, and courage.
And 85 points is more than just a number.

It is proof that a young team, with only one returning veteran, had the courage to stand among 13 schools in District 2 and say:
“We are Macabug, and we are here to compete.”

This may not be the final chapter.
It may only be the opening scene of a much bigger story.
Today, they are 6th.
Tomorrow, they may be standing on the podium. And someday, these young debaters may look back at this competition and realize that this was the moment when their journey truly began.

To Abby, Athena, and Parker, thank you for carrying the Macabug name with pride. Thank you for fighting until the final argument. Thank you for proving that being a new team does not mean being an inexperienced team.
Sometimes, champions are not defined by where they finish.
They are defined by how bravely they fight to get there.
