The City College of Ormoc, through the Research and Extension Office, successfully conducted the seminar-workshop โ€œAI in Higher Education and Orientation on the CCO Research Guidelines and Policyโ€ at the CCO Research and Extension Hub.

The activity brought together full-time faculty members, research instructors and advisers as well as non-teaching personnel to strengthen their understanding of the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching, learning, and research, while also provided an orientation on the provisions of the CCO Research Guidelines and Policy, and the roles and responsibilities of faculty research advisers.

The seminar featured discussions led by Ms. Jhyme Lou O. De la Cerna, Research Ethics Coordinator, and Ms. Francia Marie D. Jose, Research Development and Innovation Coordinator, who shared insights on ethical AI utilization, research governance, and effective research supervision.

Through this initiative, CCO continues to promote innovation, research integrity, academic excellence, and continuous professional development among its faculty members.

In line with the City College of Ormoc's commitment to providing relevant and responsive academic programs, the institution successfully conducted the Stakeholders' Consultation and Curriculum Review for the proposed Bachelor in Human Services program on June 18, 2026, at the Research and Extension Hub.

The consultation was attended by representatives from various offices and industry partners, including the Philippine National Police (PNP), Hope Worldwide Philippines, Save the Childrenโ€“Ormoc Office, the Department of Education (DepEd) Ormoc City Division, Chuliante Marketing Corporation, the City Youth Development Office (CYDO), the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the Home of God's Mercy and Compassion (HGMC), Non-Government Offices (NGOs), LGU-Ormoc, and other partner agencies.

The proposed program is anchored on CHED Memorandum Order No. 33, Series of 2017, which highlights the need to prepare graduates who can effectively respond to the social, developmental, and human service needs of individuals, families, and communities.

The second day of the 2026 First-Year Orientation Program was filled with meaningful learning and engaging activities as first-year students participated in the ASPIRE Values Day.

Facilitated by the ASPIRE Volunteers, the activity brought together incoming students from the College's seven academic programs: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management (BSBA-MM), Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA), Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW), Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA), Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (BA Psychology), Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BA Communication), and Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Sciences (BSESS).

Through interactive activities and group discussions, the first-year students explored the ASPIRE Core Values, fostering reflection and a deeper appreciation of the values upheld by the College.

The City College of Ormoc informs all students, faculty, and stakeholders that classes for the First Semester of Academic Year 2026โ€“2027 will officially begin on July 1, 2026.

CCOnians, particularly our incoming first-year students, will be given ample time to rest, recharge, and prepare for the upcoming school year following the completion of the 20-day Bridging Program.

At City College of Ormoc, student welfare is our top priority, and we want to ensure that every learner begins the academic year adequately prepared and supported. During this period, CCO will also continue its preparations to provide the best possible learning environment for all students.

Further announcements regarding class schedules and other enrollment-related matters will be released through our official communication channels.

Let us begin the new academic year with enthusiasm, commitment, and a shared pursuit of excellence. Together, let us make this semester a meaningful and successful one.

The 2026 First-Year Orientation Program officially commenced on June 17, 2026, at the Ormoc City Superdome. Marking the first day of the three-day event, the venue was filled with excitement as faculty members, staff, and students gathered to welcome the newest members of the CCO community.

The event started with the Mass of the Holy Spirit, presided over by Rev. Msgr. Erlito Maraya. In his homily, he encouraged the students to aim high, soar high, and go deep in their pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. He challenged them to raise their standards of excellence and to allow the administrators and faculty members to help bring out the best in them throughout their academic journey.

Atty. Nolito M. Quilang, OIC-President/College Administrator, officially welcomed the first-year students. In his message, he emphasized CCOโ€™s commitment to providing opportunities for growth and success. He encouraged the students to dream big, take their studies seriously, actively participate in campus life, and strive for excellence as they begin their college journey.

Hon. Edmund Kierulf, Chairperson of the SP Committee on Education and Manpower Development, and Vice-Chairperson Hon. Krizea Caessandra Mercadal also attended the event and delivered inspirational messages, encouraging the first-year students to strive for excellence and remain committed to their goals.

An interactive icebreaker activity, "Connect and Energize," was facilitated by the Program Heads, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their program yell and cheer while fostering the CCO spirit. This was followed by a lively game show led by Mr. Niรฑo Piolo Roto, Coordinator for Student Leadership and Governance, and Ms. Pamela Pagalan, College Librarian.

Following this, students were likewise introduced to the institution's Administrative Cluster and the Academic and Student Affairs and Services Cluster, providing them with a better understanding of the offices and personnel dedicated to supporting their overall college experience.

Ms. Xyza Ocampo, Director for Student Leaders, Publication, and Other Activities, also presented one of the essential student resources through the "Manual Quick-Start," an interactive presentation of the Student Handbook and Library Handbook Essentials. This was followed by presentations from the Guidance Office, Sports Development Program, Health and Services Program, and Culture and Arts Program, highlighting the various services designed to support students' holistic development and success at CCO.

Mr. Roto also recognized the student leaders and volunteers who generously dedicated their time and effort to ensure the success of the event. The program also featured a video presentation showcasing CCO Life, giving the students a glimpse of the vibrant academic, extracurricular, and campus experiences that await them.

The event concluded with the Pledge of a CCOnian, led by Supreme Student Government President Kenneth V. Toรฑada, formally welcoming the freshmen into the CCO community and encouraging them to uphold the institution's ASPIRE core values.

The CCO Management Committee (MANCOM) convened on June 16, 2026, at the Ormoc City Public Library, New Room 3 for its quarterly meeting, aimed to strengthen institutional coordination and address concerns raised by the Collegeโ€™s various offices. The meeting was presided over by OIC-President/College Administrator, Atty. Nolito M. Quilang.

As part of the agenda, participants delivered re-echo presentations on recently attended conferences, seminars, workshops, and benchmarking activities. These presentations served as a platform for sharing valuable insights gained from these engagements, contributing to the Collegeโ€™s continuing pursuit of quality education.

Among the presenters were Ms. Michelle Polido, Student Discipline Coordinator, who shared key learnings and insights gained from the 30th PAPSAS National Conference and Training Workshop. Ms. Francia Marie D. Jose, Research Coordinator, presented the highlights of the Student Research Conference. She also introduced the proposed logo for the Research and Extension Office. In addition, Ms. Angelica Nicole Castro, Admission and College Orientation Program Coordinator, provided updates on the admission for Academic Year 2026โ€“2027.

Ms. Monica Faith Cabiling, Executive Assistant of the Office of the President, representing Atty. Jima Zandra Jimenea-Vergara, CCO Legal Counsel, reported on the virtual benchmarking activity conducted with the Northern Bukidnon State College Board Secretary.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the different clusters to present updates, discuss concerns, and put forward recommendations. Matters from their respective areas were shared by Dr. Sandra Lynn Baybay, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Ms. Jenny Marx M. Apit, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services; and Mr. Aga C. Galabo, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Services. Representatives from the faculty and student clusters also presented the key concerns and recommendations, with Faculty Association President Mr. Ethelbert Deguit presenting matters on behalf of the faculty, and SSG President Kenneth Toรฑada conveying matters on behalf of the student body.

The MANCOM Meeting continues to highlight the collegeโ€™s commitment to cultivating a culture of collaboration and providing opportunities for dialogue and knowledge sharing. These efforts play a vital role in ensuring that institutional initiatives remain responsive and aligned with the needs of the CCO community.

Centered around the theme, "From Freshie to Family: Welcome, CCOnians!" this event marks the first-ever gathering of all our incoming first-year students across our seven (7) promising programs as the newest addition to our growing CCO Family.

Since 2023, CCO's FYO Program has been one of the highlights every new academic year as it brings about new hopes, fresh perspectives, and renewed dreams of our CCOnians.
