This is a project initiative that started last year, and the school continues to do it this academic year for it has been proven helpful to the development of reading skills and comprehension of learners.

This innovation addresses systematic issues on reading comprehension among learners. It provides technical assistance anchored in educational theories and principles. Furthermore, it provides assistance to parents and peer tutors on how to guide struggling learners in reading.

The project objectives mainly focused to:

a. Assess the reading literacy assessment status of learners in Key stage 1
b. Conduct School LAC session based on the gathered data to help equip teachers
c. Provide coaching and mentoring in facilitating reading
d. Invite reading tutors (teachers, non-teaching personnel, barangay officials, parents and other volunteers) to support the project.

Hailing from Brgy. East, Ormoc City, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management and her Diploma in Teaching Secondary from Eastern Visayas State University โ€“ Ormoc City Campus. She is currently furthering her professional journey by pursuing a Master of Education major in Home Economics at Palompon Institute of Technology in Palompon, Leyte.

Maโ€™am Leira Ann earned her Bachelor of Secondary Education, Major in General Science, from Visayas State University โ€“ Main Campus in Baybay City, graduating Magna Cum Laude and as a proud DOST Scholar. She also aced the Licensure Examination for Teachers last March 2025, placing 7th in the entire country!

๐†๐š๐š๐ฌ, ๐Ž๐ซ๐ฆ๐จ๐œ ๐‚๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ โ€” The Rural Farm School Program of the Schools Division of Ormoc City is thriving and making a breakthrough here at Gaas Integrated School. The turn-over, inspection, and acceptance of Small- scale Compositing Facility ( SSCF) with shredder and vermi composter, conducted on July 16, 2026.

The shredder cuts leaves, stalks, canteen scraps, and twigs into small pieces. Basically, it is used for faster breakdown, volume reduction and better aeration. On the other hand, the vermi composter is a controlled bin where red wiggler worms turn shredded waste into vermicast / vermicompost.

Gaas Integrated School extends its warm gratitude to people and company behind this great support. To the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM).

We are also grateful to the Schools Division of Ormoc City under the leadership and wisdom of Dr. Carmelino P. Bernadas, CESO V, to the commendable guidance and works of our Education Program Supervisor in TLE Ma'am Imelda Amodia, to the SUKI Trading Corporation for the partnership.

Finally, to our School Principal Sir Jonathan G. Basmayor for his active leadership, technical assistance and tireless support in the Rural Farm School Program here at Gaas Integrated School.
