Twenty-five (25) Students of CLEP 2-A and CLEP 2-C formally took their oath as Student Practitioners before Hon. Judge Mario Quinit, Executive Judge of RTC Branch 12 yesterday, September 1, 2026.

The students were accompanied by their Supervising Lawyer and the Special Assistant to the Dean, Atty. Michael Sevilla together with the Dean himself, Atty. Evergisto Escalon.

The Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) provides law students with an avenue to move beyond the four walls of the classroom and experience the realities of legal practice. Through actual exposure to client interaction and litigation, students are able to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and the practical realities in legal profession.

For the past years, WLC-SOLG has remained committed to the mission of extending legal assistance and services to members of marginalized and underserved communities. Through its continuing legal aid initiatives, the institution has provided not only legal assistance but also a sense of hope and access to justice for those who may otherwise find the legal system beyond their reach.

The oath-taking of CLEP 2-A and CLEP 2-C therefore marks more than an academic requirement. It represents the continuing formation of future lawyers who will carry forward this mission by serving the community and providing legal assistance to those in need.

The school’s FREE LEGAL AID CLINIC is open every Saturday from 9:00AM to 12:00noon. Indigent clients are free to visit the clinic during the said day and hours for legal consultation and advice.

Fifteen (15) students from Western Leyte College-School of Law took their oath as Law Student Practitioners for Level I Certification under the Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) (Rule 138-A of the Revised Rules of Court) before the Hon. Mario O. Quinit, Executive Judge of Branch 12 RTC Ormoc City, last August 20,2026.

The students were accompanied by Atty. Michael Sevilla, Clinical Legal Education Program Supervising Lawyer and the Special Assistant to the Dean of the WLC-School of Law.

The Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) is an integral part of legal education in the Philippines, designed to provide law students with practical experience while still in school. CLEP aims to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and the real-world practice of law, enabling students to gain direct exposure to the legal system and work with actual clients under the supervision of licensed practitioners.

In the WLC-School of Law, these students gain valuable exposure through the free legal aid clinic at the WLC-SOL Dean’s Office under the supervision and guidance of a lawyer.

The school’s free legal aid clinic is open every Saturday from 9:00AM to 12:00noon. Indigent clients are free to visit the clinic during the said day and hours for legal consultation and advice.
