The Institute of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences of Bataan Peninsula State University extends its warmest congratulations to the authors of the research paper entitled, “Scylla spp. Increased Productivity Through Innovative Technology (SIPIT): Application of Enhanced Recirculating Aquaculture Systems for Mangrove Fattening”, for receiving major distinctions in two highly competitive scientific fora in 2025.
The paper reaped the Second Best Research Paper award during the 36th Regional Symposium on R&D Highlights organized by the Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium held on 05 December 2025 at the DA–PhilMech Training Hall, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija. In addition, the same paper was recognized as a Citation Awardee in the Technology Generation Category after qualifying among the top papers submitted to the Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Agricultural Research National Research Symposium conducted on 08 October 2025 at the NFA Multi-Purpose Hall, Diliman, Quezon City.
Authored by Mark Nell C. Corpuz, Angielo Dave Manlapid, Vhernie A. De Lara, and Dr. Hazel Monica Peralta, this DOST GIA-funded project demonstrated an evidence-based application of enhanced recirculating aquaculture systems for improved mangrove crab fattening performance. The dual recognition affirms the scientific rigor, innovation value, and practical relevance of the project. These accolades also reflect the consistently high quality of scholarly output produced by BPSU-IFAS, and cement the institution’s role in advancing applied Fisheries research and sustainable aquaculture technologies for regional and national development.
