The OCCECCo will begin collecting down payments or full payments for the School Uniforms (Type A and PE Uniform) from December 10–12 and 15, 2025. Please look for Ms. Rica Mae Talasan for payments.

The Third Batch of Uniform Sizing will be held on December 15, 2025 (Monday) at the Conference Room, 2nd Floor, from 9:00 AM–12:00 NN and 1:00 PM–3:00 PM.

PUBLICATION SPOTLIGHT

Dr. Anthony A. Millare, a Business Administration faculty member, conducted a study on strategic planning, organizational learning, school culture, and productivity in private higher education institutions in Cagayan de Oro City. The research aimed to understand how these factors impact the productivity of office heads in these institutions.

Using a descriptive correlational and causal-comparative design, data were gathered from 170 key respondents through a survey. The findings revealed that strategic planning, school culture, and organizational learning greatly influence productivity. Among the tested models, Model 3 was identified as the best fit for improving productivity.

The study concluded that school culture and organizational learning remain crucial for educational institutions. It recommended focusing on career development, workforce connections, and strategies to enhance employee engagement to address the needs of the education sector effectively.

Teacher Education Department Successfully Concludes Two-Day Language Research Defense

The Teacher Education Department proudly wrapped up a two-day Research Defense for third-year Secondary Education students' Language Research projects on December 18 and 21, 2024, under the class of Dr. Aga Emm Mahinay.

The final session featured an esteemed external panel of experts from the City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO). Dr. Kurt S. Candilas, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Ray Butch Mahinay, Vice President for Extension and Social Development Services; and Dr. Wenie Rose Canay, Dean of the Teacher Education Department, who served as Chairman, conducted a thorough evaluation of five research groups. The studies encompassed both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, reflecting the students' dedication and academic rigor.

The defense highlighted the students' dedication to academic excellence, as their studies underwent critical scrutiny from seasoned professionals, underscoring the department's commitment to fostering research competence among future educators.

The 4th-year Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) students majoring in Financial Management (FM) and Marketing Management (MM) successfully defended their Final Defense of Feasibility Studies on November 25-26, 2024. The event carried the theme: "Creating a Sustainable Impact Through Feasibility Studies," highlighting the students' commitment to innovation and societal progress.

The panel of evaluators, led by Panel Chairman Mr. Bernardito Dacubor, included distinguished members: Dr. Anthony Millare, LPT, Dr. Wilson Bation, and Mr. Keith Lou Baculio. The Feasibility Study Coordinator, Dr. Amabelle Pacana, CPA, supervised the event, ensuring a smooth and rigorous evaluation process.

The final defense showcased the culmination of the student's hard work, creativity, and dedication as they presented innovative products and services with the potential to make a sustainable impact on society. Each feasibility study highlighted unique approaches to addressing real-world challenges, underscoring the importance of business solutions rooted in sustainability and community relevance.

This milestone reflects the students’ readiness to take on the business world, armed with innovative ideas and the skills to implement them effectively. Congratulations to the BSBA FM/MM students for their remarkable achievements!

The Business Research Final Defense, held on November 13–15, 2024, celebrated academic excellence under the theme “Engaging People and the Society through Diversity in Research.” This significant event allowed students to present innovative research that addressed diverse societal challenges, highlighting their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The sessions were led by a distinguished panel of experts, including Dr. Wilson Bation as Chairman, Dr. Amabelle Pacana, CPA, as Panel 1, and Dr. Wendy Veeh Batar, REB, as Panel 2. Under the guidance of their adviser, Dr. Anthony Millare, LPT, students rigorously defended their work, showcasing their preparedness and dedication to academic and professional growth.

This three-day event was a testament to the student's ability to contribute meaningfully to academic discussions while addressing real-world issues, reinforcing the importance of diversity and innovation in research.

On August 19, 2024, the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) - Region X organized an information drive for IT students on the "Raising Awareness and Inspiring the Startup Ecosystem" (RAISE) program. The event was spearheaded by Mr. Mohammad Ali B. Ibrahim, Lead Focal of the ICT Industry Development Bureau, and Engr. Junard Cabañero, Information Systems Researcher.

During the session, the DICT representatives engaged with IT students, highlighting the importance of RAISE as a platform that encourages students to devise practical and feasible solutions to real-world challenges. The initiative also aims to inspire students to develop capstone projects that go beyond academic achievements, contributing meaningfully to communities and industries.

The primary objective of the event was to acquaint students with the dynamic world of startups and entrepreneurship, preparing them to make impactful contributions to the tech industry.

Mr. Sophomore Vacalares, an Education Faculty member, partnered with Mr. Brian Paul Sta. Ana, a Senior High School Teacher at Pilar National High School in Surigao del Norte, published their research work internationally. Along with their research team, they explored the language of scams and legitimate emails, providing valuable insights into how linguistic patterns can be used to identify fraudulent communications.

Their study examines the differences in tone, structure, and word choice between scam emails and legitimate ones. This research has important implications for cybersecurity and can help improve email filtering systems, potentially reducing the risk of online fraud.
