โThe newly elected officers of the Arts, Sciences, and Education Network and Development (ASCEND) officially took their oath and paid a courtesy visit to the new Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASEd), Dr. Norly T. Canonizado, on July 22.
Joined by their faculty advisers, Dr. Raymond A. Sebastian and Mr. John Joseph O. Hoy, the officers introduced their goals, proposed projects, and planned activities for the upcoming academic year as they began working with the college's new administration.
โThe meeting centered on ensuring that ASCEND's initiatives complement the college's direction, especially as Columban College, Inc. (CCI) gears up for its 65th Founding Anniversary this November.
Among the key topics discussed were strengthening the identity of each department and ensuring future activities remain aligned with institutional values and guidelines.
โDean Canonizado assured the officers of his support, highlighting the importance of student-centered programs, organized event management, and initiatives that are both inclusive and meaningful.
In turn, the ASCEND leadership presented their early plans for major college eventsโincluding Friendstival, CASEd Night, and Sportsfestโwith a strong focus on improving coordination, scheduling, and overall student participation.
โThe discussion also explored ways to improve digital communication among CASEd's recognized student organizations to streamline announcements and project coordination.
Student representation in upcoming advocacy programs, such as the Bullying Prevention Symposium this August, was likewise tackled.
โThe meeting concluded with a photo opportunity alongside former CASEd Dean and current Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Services (VPAASS) Dr. Christine Gil O. Almazan, marking the leadership transition and reinforcing the shared commitment of both the administration and student leaders to a productive academic year.
