PROJECT GLEAM Year 3
Gift-Giving, Love for Reading in the Mentor-Mentee Experience 📚✨
December 16, 2025
The English Club is delighted to share the success of Project GLEAM Year 3, led by Ma'am Shiela Mae Y. Abellon, Teacher III of the English Department.
This meaningful initiative was made possible through the invaluable support of our School Principal, Dr. Nenita P. Avilanes, OIC–ASP Michael P. Tuyay, and Head Teacher Ma’am Adelyn O. Damasco. The program was also honored by the presence of SPTA President Ms. Maricris F. Galarpe and Sir Glandy L. Vinca, Head Teacher III and TGIS representative, one of the project sponsors.
With the collaboration of our English Teachers and the English Club, Project GLEAM Year 3 served 30 recipients, nurturing a love for reading and strengthening the mentor-mentee experience among our learners.
We look forward to continuing this project in the years to come, with the support of kind and generous hearts. All glory and honor to God. 🙏💛

Last November 24, 2025, our campus celebrated creativity and love for reading through two exciting activities.
Our Grade 7 learners shined in the Wear What You Read competition, bringing their favorite book characters to life and delivering memorable lines straight from the stories they cherish.
Meanwhile, the Grade 8 learners showcased their talent in the Literary Hat contest, crafting imaginative hats inspired by the books that sparked their imagination. 🎩✨
A huge salute to the English Department for beautifully facilitating and guiding the events—your hard work made the day inspiring and unforgettable! 💛📖
Amazing job, readers and creators! Keep letting stories lead the way.

📚✨ GHNHS Opens National Reading Month with Heart, Energy, and Hope! ✨📚
What an inspiring morning at Gordon Heights National High School as we kicked off National Reading Month last November 14, 2025! With this year’s theme, “Reading is a Bridge to a Future Full of Hope,” the whole celebration truly felt like a bridge—connecting stories to students, and for them to reach the future they dream of.
From the warm welcome of our Masters of Ceremony to the heartfelt messages of our Reading Coordinators, every moment reminded us why reading matters. Our school was buzzing with excitement—from the lively Book Blast Shout-Out, to the expressive storytelling of our Guest Reader, Ms. Mary Lourelie E. Laparan, whose voice brought the story to life and kept students fully engaged.
The lineup of activities presented by our teachers had everyone whispering, “Sali tayo!” while the Isip-Tuklas Challenge filled the campus with laughter, cheers, and proud moments. And as the Reader’s Oath was delivered, we sealed our commitment to read with purpose, joy, and curiosity.
GHNHS is ready for a month filled with stories, learning, and hope. Here’s to turning every page into a new possibility! 💙📖✨

Is it hell week already with endless deadlines and projects? Does school feel more like home, while your real house has turned into just a place you drop by to sleep? Sometimes we get so caught up in the chaos of academics and responsibilities that we forget to slow down and reconnect with the people who matter most — our family.
This day of September 22, Family Day is more than just a break from the stress; it’s a reminder of the value of love, support, and togetherness. It’s about strengthening the bonds that shape who we are and reminding ourselves that no matter how busy life gets, family remains our foundation. Celebrating Family Day allows us to pause, share meals, laugh together, and create memories that last longer than any deadline or exam.

It wasn’t just about saying the words — it was about promising to do our best, work together, and make GHNHS proud. A day full of learning, unity, and commitment! 💪📚

"One wrong choice can change your brain, your future, and your life forever."
On August 8, 2025, GHNHS conducted a seminar to raise awareness about drugs — substances that can mess with how your brain works, especially the parts that help you decide and control your emotions.
Drugs aren’t just some “cool” thing people try — they’re substances that can mess with how your brain works, especially the parts that help you decide and control your emotions. People can start using them because of curiosity, peer pressure, or even just trying to escape stress. But once addiction starts, it’s hard to stop — it can begin small, turn into a habit, get boring, then crash into disaster.
✨ HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE DRUG AWARENESS SYMPOSIUM ✨
• Brain changes – how decision-making and emotions get hijacked
• Conditioning – the brain can be trained to crave (Pavlov vibes!)
• Addiction cycle – start → maintain → boredom → disaster
• Triggers – people, places, fun events, special occasions
• Control strategies – visualization, relaxation, rubber-band snap, call for help
How to avoid it?
* Replace triggers with healthy activities
* Stay mindful & breathe before reacting to cravings
* Surround yourself with friends who support good choices
* Keep your schedule full with school, hobbies, and goals
Are there cures?
Yes—through proper treatment, counseling, and support systems. But it’s not easy. Recovery takes time, help, and determination.
Lesson of the day:
Your future self will thank you for saying no today. Stay drug-free, stay in control, and protect your mind.
