𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗔𝗡𝗥 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻

The MIMAROPA Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium, co-hosted by Romblon State University, conducted the Training Writeshop on AANR Research Proposal Preparation in the MIMAROPA Region on June 17-18, 2026, at the RSU Hostel Function Hall, Romblon State University, Odiongan, Romblon.

The activity served as a significant platform for strengthening the competencies of researchers in developing responsive, priority-aligned, and development-oriented research proposals for the agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources sector. It also reinforced the importance of collaborative research engagement in addressing regional priorities and contributing to science-based development in MIMAROPA.

The writeshop was enriched by the expertise and guidance of the resource persons and key contributors, including Dr. Ronaldo G. Orpiano, VPRDE/Consortium Director; Mr. Macario B. Masagca Jr., R&D Cluster Coordinator; Dr. Katherine Sanchez P. Escalona; Dr. Jeselle Laranas of DOST-PCAARRD; and Engr. Kathleen Faith Jay O. Villarma of DOST-PCAARRD.

Through this initiative, RSU reaffirms its role as an active partner in advancing AANR research and in supporting programs that contribute to sustainable regional development.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗲𝗳: 𝗥𝗦𝗨 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲!

Romblon State University proudly launches the Center for Sustainable Environment and Natural Resource Governance (CSENRG), an initiative that reinforces the University's commitment to environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and science-based natural resource governance.

As an island-based state university aspiring to become the Archipelagic University of the Philippines, RSU is uniquely positioned to advance the country's blue and green economy agenda. CSENRG will serve as a knowledge and innovation hub for ridge-to-reef environmental governance, linking forests, watersheds, freshwater systems, coastal areas, and marine ecosystems through research, innovation, and policy engagement.

Aligned with global sustainability goals, CSENRG will directly contribute to the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6, 7, 11, 13, 14, and 15.

Through the Center, RSU continues to lead the way in promoting sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and resilient communities from ridge to reef.

Romblon State University (RSU) was recognized as one of the Most Engaged Consortium Member Institutions during the 38th Anniversary Celebration of the Southern Tagalog Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research, Development and Extension Consortium (STAARRDEC) held on June 3, 2026.

The recognition underscores RSU’s strong commitment and active participation in regional research, innovation, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and extension initiatives that contribute to the advancement of the agriculture and aquaculture sectors. It also reflects the university’s continuing efforts to foster collaboration and support programs that promote sustainable development and regional transformation through science, technology, and innovation.

RSU extends its sincere appreciation to University President Merian P. Catajay-Mani, Vice President for Research, Extension, Development and Innovation Eddie G. Fetalvero, and the dedicated RSU representatives—Jane Faith F. Falceso, Denver I. Walitang, Greg Florendo, Christine Joy M. Manato, and Dave Lota—whose dedication and collaborative efforts continue to strengthen the university’s engagement with STAARRDEC and its partner institutions.

The 2026 1st In-House Review of Proposed and Completed Research and Extension Projects was successfully conducted, highlighting the commitment of Romblon State University to research excellence, innovation, and community engagement.

A total of 12 proposed research projects, 9 proposed extension projects, 19 completed research projects, and 2 completed extension programs were presented and evaluated by a distinguished panel of experts.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants, presenters, and evaluators whose active involvement, valuable insights, and unwavering support made this activity meaningful and successful.

Congratulations to the awardees and winning entries for their outstanding research and extension outputs. Your achievements reflect dedication, creativity, and a strong commitment to academic and community development.
